Little Jim was born in a small village. His father has a farm there. His parents work hard but there is little rain, so they can’t get enough food to eat. The boy is eight now. He has to help his parents to work on the farm and can’t go to school.

One day a travelling circus (马戏团) comes to the village. Most of the farmers go to see the shows and they all think the shows are nice.
