How to Learn English

Dear classmates,

Good afternoon! English is one of the most important languages in the world. It’s necessary to learn it well. How do we study well? Based on my own learning experience, I would like to share three points with you.

Firstly, practice makes perfect. You should speak English in class. After class, talk to your class in English as you can. It can improve your speaking skill. Secondly, interest is the best teacher. Connect what you are interested in with the English you need to learn. For example, if you like singing songs or sports, you can learn English by singing English songs or English sports games. Thirdly, grammar is important. You should listen to your teacher carefully in class and take notes. You should write down grammar rules and remember them.

All in all, there is no fast way to learn English well, except work hard. If you keep on learning, you will succeed.

【题目】阅读短文,并根据短文内容回答所提问题。

Shanghai started a new garbage-sorting (垃圾分类)program in July this year. People are always asking“which is the right bin(垃圾箱) for my garbage?" They need to put different kinds of garbage into different bins. Other cities in China will do the same soon.

Why is garbage sorting a big problem?

It's because there is too much garbage these days. It's bad for our soil, air and water. Actually, we can make use of some garbage again. And first, we need to sort our garbage. For example, if you put an battery(电池) into the“harmful waste(有害垃圾)”bin, people can use it to make new batteries. But if you don't, the battery will be somewhere else. It will be bad for the environment. Many people may not know how to sort it in a right way. China's tech companies are working hard to solve this problem. For example, if you want to know which bin your milk box should go in, you can just open a mini app(小程序) in WeChat or Ali pay and look for“wet wipes". The app will give you the answer right away. Maybe you can just take a photo of the garbage and then you will know which bin you should put it into.

The future of garbage-sorting looks good. But it's not the best way. The best thing we can do is to make less garbage in the first place.

根据短文内容,回答问题。

1When did the new garbage-sorting program start in Shanghai?

2What do people need to do for this program?

【题目】Complete the following passage with the words in the box. Each can be used only once

A. instead of B. expenses C. able D. ready E. independence

For many, going to college is the first step toward freedom. But freedom also means1, which means you have to learn to handle everything by yourself.

One of the biggest problems with being an independent student is money. College students are expected to plan their monthly living2all on their own. Nearly half of US high school students don’t think they are3for it yet.

To solve the problem, US News offered some suggestions. One of them is to create a budget of how much you’re planning to spend on food and personal care items. Another tip is to learn to separate “wants” from “needs”. The best way to do this is to ask yourself, “Do I really need this?” Indeed, if we only buy what we needed4what we wanted, money wouldn’t be such a worry after all.
