    9．B  Today is Friday，August 14th．Bob told me something exciting this morning：his father helped the police catch a thief yesterday!
      When Bob was waiting for the ferry（渡船） with his father，he heard some people arguing loudly．He looked around and saw two women and a big man shouting at each other．When Bob's father asked what was going on，one of the women said they were tourists and three young men stole her friend's purse when they were buying postcards in a bookstore．The other two had run away，but they followed the big man closely．
      When the ferry arrived，the big man hurried onto the ferry and the two tourists went aboard after him．Bob was angry．He wanted to go up and help the two women．But his father said he didn't want to take that ferry．Bob felt even angrier because his father was afraid of the big man and didn't want to help others!
      What Bob saw next changed his idea of his father．His father hurried to a nearby ice-cream store and used their phone to call the police．He reported the things to the police and gave some useful details about the thief，the tourists and the ferry．
      When they got off the next ferry，Bob saw the big man was caught by six policemen．
      While Bob was telling me the story，he seemed very proud．He said he had a better understanding of his father．Although he is a common man，he was a real hero．In fact，I felt the same about his father．But，what would I do if I were Bob？What would my father do if this happened to him？I've never seen him do something brave．Is my father also a hero？
