Daming woke up in the morning. The robot said in a pleasant voice, “It is June 26, 2118. It’s a fine day. And your father is leaving for Planet 3549 in an hour.”
Planet 3549 is a newly-discovered planet. With the development of technology, it will take only 15 days to travel there. Daming’s father is an excellent astronaut(宇航员), so he was chosen to land on this planet.
Before his journey, scientists had collected a lot of information about the planet. Then came the time for Daming’s father to leave. He said goodbye to his family members and friends, and then started his journey, during which time he had a good rest in the spaceship. After landing on Planet 3579 safely, the real work began for Daming’s father. He connected with the headquarter (指挥中心) on the earth and sent back some photofraphs of this planet. Meanwhile, some machines controlled by computers in the spaceship were working to produce oxygen (氧) and clean water, other machines were dealing with waste.
Everything worked very well for the first week. Unluckily, something suddenly went wrong with a small part of a machine, and it couldn’t turn dirty water into drinking water. It was terrible. Daming’s father was very worried, but suddenly he had an idea. He connected the machine with a tool outside the spaceship, which could provide power (动力) for it, so he fixed the machine all by himself! Though it wouldn’t last long, he avoided danger for the time being. “I must call back the earth and ask for help,” he thought to himeself.
Hearing the news, the scientists on the earth immediately took actions and sent another spaceship to bring him back. Daming’s mother and the whole family were all concerned (担心) about Daming’s father. They made vision (视频) calls every day until Daming’s father safely returned.
