    So you're my new pen friend. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I'm 14 years old and I live in

    Calgary, Canada. I have two older brothers, Brian and Sam. I'm the only girl.

    I love sports and I'm always looking for exciting new hobbies to try. I like playing baseball in winter.It's fun beating the boys! But summer is my favourite time of the year. I love skateboarding and rock climbing in summer. Skateboarding's great because it's so fun and easy to learn! I often skateboard after school. There are many places in the park where I can do stunts. I'm good at stunts like jumping and turning the skateboard! Rock climbing is also really fun. I usually climb with my dad on weekends. We can't do it on real mountains very often because we live in the city. We do indoor rock climbing instead but it's not as challenging.

    By my eighth grade, I was a kid who felt unsafe, unloved and pretty angry at life. In other words, I behaved badly in school.     To be honest, that moment was a turning point, not only in my education, but also in my life. Suddenly, unexpectedly, someone believed in me. For the first time in my life, someone saw potential(潜力) in me. Miss Brown often gave me little jobs to do. She invited me to stay after school to work on my reading and math. She challenged me to let her down. So I studied really hard that even my own father couldn’t believe that I was changing.

    What made me the difference between the eighth grade and ninth grade? It was that risky, because there was no promise that I would honor Ms. Brown’s trust.

    Everyone likes the end product of teaching, especially when it produces excellent men, the sports star, the successful business persons, the smart lawyer. But how many of us want to deal with the person at the beginning of the process?
