International tourism is becoming more and more popular. Large numbers of people from all over the world come to visit famous places, such as the Great Wall of China and the Sistine Chapel£¨Î÷˹͢½ÌÌã©in Vatican City. These visitors contribute (¹±Ï×)a lot to the local development, but at the same time they have caused many problems. They¡¯ve thrown rubbish everywhere, brought more traffic and even done serious damage£¨ÆÆ»µ£©to these places.

As for the damage, there are many different causes. For example, the paintings in the Sistine Chapel are being damaged because people breathe onto them when they visit. Damage in other places such as the Great Wall is serious partly because tourists climb on delicate£¨´àÈõµÄ£©areas. Even though some of the walls were built of stone, after so many years, they are already in poor condition and need to be rebuilt.

¡øOn the one hand, we have to cut down tourist numbers, because fewer visitors will result in less damage. On the other hand, we should make strict rules about which areas people can visit and what they can do when they get there. For example, special paths£¨Â·¾¶£©can be built and people will not be allowed to walk off the paths. Visitors to indoor places can be asked to wear masks£¨ÃæÕÖ£©to protect the paintings.

It is necessary to control tourism at famous places. If we do not do this, these places will disappear from our planet. And people who live hundreds of years later will have no chance to see these great places.

The film Forever Enthralled was directed by the director Chen Kaige, and famous stars acted in it, such as Li Ming and Zhang Ziyi and Chen Hong. This film shows Mei Lanfang¡¯s life as a master of Beijing opera.

Mei grew up in a family of Beijing opera performers. He began to perform on the stage in 1904 when he was 10 years old. He learnt his acting skills and played female roles. Singing, dancing, and acting are the three main parts of the traditional Chinese opera. Mei Lanfang became highly good at all of them. In July 1937, the Japanese army occupied(Õ¼Áì) Beijing. The officer of the army told Mei to perform for them and promised to give him a reward. Mei refused at the risk(·çÏÕ) of his life and from then on he did not appear on stage during the war. His decision to give up made him poor until the war ended in 1945.

Mei Lanfang was the first artist to introduce Beijing opera to foreign countries. He had his opera tours abroad, and people in other countries started to understand this kind of play. After 1949, he became the symbol of Beijing opera through making a great contribution to the development of Beijing opera.
