Mei Lanfang was the first artist to introduce Beijing Opera to foreign countries. He had his opera tours abroad, and people in other countries started to understand this kind of play. After 1949, he became the symbol of Beijing Opera through making a great contribution (贡献）to the development of Beijing Opera.
