The BBC recently reported a great rise in British English in the US. Words like “cheers”, meaning “thank you”, and “mate”, meaning “friend”, are becoming popular. No one knows h1. this has happened, although the success of British films like Harry Potter may have something to do with it.

British English and American English are a little different. The two are the same in grammar but different in the way they pronounce and spell some words. Americans pronounce words like car, better and sweater with an /er/ at the e2.. The British way of spelling “color” is “colour” and they write “favorite” a 3. “favourite”.

Queen Olivia smiled. “Then you did make a wise choice,” she said. “That mirror may look beautiful. But the jewels you see are only colored glass, and the frame is painted silver. The chicken is much more valuable.” Peter took the chicken. Then he said. “Thank you.”

“You are a smart child,” the queen said. “I could use a smart boy to help take care of my horses. Would you like a job?” Peter smiled. “Thank you!” he said. A job for the queen paid well. Now his family would eat well for the rest of their lives——all because he had chosen a chicken!
