Andrew was smart when he was young. He liked doing things in a way that he thought to be clever. But sometimes he made wrong decisions.

One day, his father gave him ten dollars and asked him to buy some goldfish(金鱼).When he got to the market, he found that the killifish(鳍鱼)looked like goldfish and that they were much cheaper. So he bought some killifish and kept the rest of the money for himself.

When he got home, his father realized what Andrew did at once. He put the fish in the tank without saying anything at first. The next day he said to his son, "Andrew, do you know what you bought yesterday? Are they goldfish?” Andrew didn't know what to say. His father continued, "I'm glad that you know how to save money. I also know you are good at watching things around you. But it's not right to be dishonest." From then on, Andrew's father often asked him to do some chores, like buying daily things and helping his uncle in the store.

根据短文第二段 “One day, his father gave him ten dollars and asked him to buy some goldfish(金鱼)…he found that the killifish(鳍鱼)looked like goldfish and that they were much cheaper.”

A“因为他的爸爸教他怎样成长得更好”;B“因为他的爸爸教他怎样照顾自己”;C“因为他的爸爸告诉他帮助别人的重要性”;D“因为他的爸爸帮助他找到了一个好工作”。根据文意 “he said, "Thanks to my father, I got to know myself well and developed in a right way."” 故选A

根据文意 “One day, his father gave him ten dollars and asked him to buy some goldfish(金鱼).When he got to the market, he found that the killifish(鳍鱼)looked like goldfish and that they were much cheaper. So he bought some killifish”可知,Andrew的爸爸让他去买金鱼,但是他买的是鳍鱼,Andrew是不诚实的。

根据第三段 “The next day he said to his son, "Andrew, do you know what you bought yesterday? Are they goldfish?” Andrew didn't know what to say. His father continued, "I'm glad that you know how to save money. I also know you are good at watching things around you. But it's not right to be dishonest."”可知,Andrew的父亲知道了Andrew做了什么,但是他没有斥责他,而是先肯定了Andrew的优点,然后告诉他不诚实是不对的。从这里我们可以看到,Andrew的爸爸很懂得如何教育他的孩子,是一个成功的父亲。故选D

【题目】根据短文内容,判断正误。
“How are you?”is a nice question. It's a friendly way for Americans to greet each other. But“How are you?”is also a very unusual question. It often doesn't need an answer. The person who asks“How are you?”hopes to hear the answer“Fine”even if the person's friend isn't fine. In fact, they are not really a question or an answer. They are simply other ways of saying “Hello”or“Hi”.
Sometimes people also don't say exactly what they mean, For example, when someone asks“Do you agree?”the other person might think,“No,I disagree. I think you're wrong.” But it isn't very polite to disagree so strongly, so the other person might say,“I'm afraid …”It's a nicer way to disagree.
People also don't say exactly what they are thinking when they finish talking with other people. For example, many phone talks finish when one person says“I have to go now.”Often, the person who wants to finish the phone call gives an excuse,“Someone's at the door.”The excuse might be real, or not. Perhaps the person who wants to finish the phone call simply doesn't want to talk anymore, but it isn't polite to say that. The excuse is more polite, and it doesn't hurt the other person.
When they are greeting each other, talking about an idea, thinking of finishing a talk, people don't say exactly what they are thinking about. It's an important way that people try to be nice to each other, and it is part of the game of language.
(1)“How are you?”is another way of saying“Hello”or“Hi”.
(2)It is polite to say“No,I disagree. I think you are wrong”if you don't agree with others.
(3)When someone says“I have to go now”on the phone, it means he wants to go on talking.
(4)“Someone is at the door ”may be an excuse for finishing a phone call.
(5)Sometimes, people don't say exactly what they are thinking about just because they try to be nice to each other.
