There is a river near my hometown.

There is a river near my hometown. It is small but quite beautiful with tall, green trees on both sides. And we can see many different kinds of fish swimming freely in it. In the past, people used to come here to have a walk or to do morning or evening exercises. They all had a good time around here. In recent years, many factories have been built, and most of them poured dirty water into the small river. The fish and other animals can¡¯t live and they begin to die. Now you can see the terrible, dirty water with much waste things on it. You can hear the noise of machines instead of the birds¡¯ singing. People no longer come here. How I wish the river could be protected and its beauty would return!Dear friends, let¡¯s do something to protect the poor, small river together!

The earth is our home. We must take care of it. Life today is easier than it was 1       years ago,but it has brought some new problems. One of the biggest problems is pollution. We can see it,smell it,drink it and even hear it.

Man has polluted the 2       . The more people, the more pollution. Many years ago,the

problem was not so serious because there were not so 3       people. When the land was used up(Óùâ)or the river was not clean in a place, man went to 4       place. Now man is slowly polluting the whole world.

5       pollution is still the most serious. It¡¯s bad for 6       things in the world. Many countries don¡¯t let people burn(ȼÉÕ)  7       for air in houses and factories in the city.

Pollution by S02 is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution. It¡¯s caused by(ÓÉÒýÆð)heavy traffic. People say it¡¯s 8       to ride bikes. When you are riding, there is no pollution. But even in developed countries, most people don¡¯t go to work by bike. It¡¯s not because bikes are expensive or people are tired if they ride to work. It¡¯s because the number of cars on the roads becomes larger. So more people 9       their bikes and go to work by car, then things are getting worse and worse. We should have special roads only for bikes and make it 10       difficult and expensive for drivers to take their cars into the city that they will go back to use their bikes.

About three years ago,I felt very lonely. I didn¡¯t like my classmates,my parents or anyone else. My classmates didn¡¯t want to talk  1        me,and my parents were always saying that other kids were better than me. I thought I was the 2      unlucky person in the world.

One day I had a big fight with one of my classmates. I was so angry 3      I hit him in the face. Just at that moment,a boy stood up and 4      the fight. He was the monitor of our class.

After that,he often helped me and we became good 5      . Whenever I got angry or sad,he would help 6      cool down. My life began to change because of the boy,my best friend. We spent a lot of interesting days together. As 7      went by,I felt happier with people around me. And it 8      that people around me had changed, too. My parents didn¡¯t shout at me 9      longer and my classmates became friendly to me.

But now,I can¡¯t often see my best friend because he is seriously 10      and is staying in a hospital. How I miss the days when we were together!I hope he will be all right and come back to school soon.
