    It seems to be strange to you there is a blind spot(盲点)on the eyes,  Here is an interesting experiment(实验)that can make something disappear, when one eye is open.
    Make a card about the size of a postcard and write two English letters L and R on it, Lon the left and R on the right.     Have you ever wondered?
    Why do airplanes take longer to fly west than east?
    It can take five hours to go west-east from New York (NY) to London but seven hours to travel east-west from London to NY. The reason for the difference is an atmospheric phenomenon (大气现象) known as the jet stream (气流). The jet stream is a very high altitude (=" above" sea level) wind which always blows from the west to the east across the Atlantic. So the planes moving at a constant air speed go faster from the west to the east when they are moving with the wind than in the opposite.
    What would happen if the gravity on Earth was suddenly turned off?
    Supposing we could magically turn off gravity. Would buildings and other buildings float away? What happened would depend on (依靠) how strongly the things were attached (吸附) to the earth. The earth is moving at quite a speed, moving at over a thousand miles per hour. If you turn something around your head on a string, it goes around in a circle until you let go of the string. Then it flies off in a straight line. ‘Turning off’ gravity would be like letting go of the string. Things not attached to the earth would fly off in a straight line. People in buildings would suddenly shoot upwards at a great speed until they hit the ceiling (=" top" surface of a room). Most things outside would fly off into space.

    For a long time being happy was considered something that just happened, and there was nothing special about it. Now we know that getting along with other people is something that we can work at. It is possible to act in such a way that other people will like us better. One way is being unselfish, not wanting everything from our friends. Another way is to look for good points, not bad points in other people. It is surprising how successful this treasure hunt can be.
    You do not have to be spineless (优柔寡断的) in order to be popular. In fact, you will be liked or loved if you are not afraid to stand up for your rights (正当行为). But do it politely and pleasantly. Many young people become discouraged (灰心丧气的) when they know in themselves qualities that they do not like—selfishness, laziness, and other unpleasant qualities.     At the same time, it is important to remember that while you are probably no worse than others, the best way to be happy is to think yourself above other people. When something is wrong, it is good sense to try to make it right. Perhaps you do not like a teacher or a classmate.
