【题目】 When all the housewives went to the new supermarket, they had one great hope in mind: to be the lucky customer. Then they did not have to pay for their shopping, for this was what the notice just inside the entrance promised. It said, "Remember, once a week, one of our customers gets free goods. This may be YOUR lucky day!"

For several weeks, Mrs. Read hoped to become a lucky customer, like many of her friends did, and she never gave up hope. Her dear husband tried to advise her not to do so, but he failed. 【题目】Read the passage and fill in the blanks with proper words(在短文的空格内填入适当的词,使其内容通顺,每空格限填一词,首字母已给):

If you have ever had trouble doing things you should do or would like to do, you have experienced procrastination(拖延症). When you procrastinate, instead of working on important meaningful tasks, you find yourself performing meaningless activities.

If you are a procrastinator, perhaps you spend lots of time watching TV, playing video games, checking Facebook, eating, cleaning or walking back and forth through the room. Afterwards, you feel powerless and have the f1 of guilt and trouble. Once again, you end up doing nothing. Sound familiar?

L2 people don’t do anything and are just fine with it. Procrastinators, however, want to actually do something but can’t force themselves to s3.

Another fact about procrastination is that it is d4 from relaxation. Relaxing recharges you with energy. But procrastination makes you not energetic. The less energy you have, the greater the chances of you putting off your responsibilities, and, once more, you will achieve nothing.

My dad always used to say, “Peter, you need to learn how to give yourself orders.” I would always answer, “I tell myself what to do, I just don’t listen.”

Most likely, failure of the ability to listen to o5 is the main reason. The scientific name of this ability is self-regulation.

Self-regulation is the ability to actively control your emotions. The more developed this ability is, the more often you will do what you tell yourself to do. Good news is it is possible to have self-regulation by t6. You need to begin by setting the bar as low as possible. Creating habits isn’t about quantity; it’s about small steps and regular repetition.

Once you learn a new habit, you can exercise your willpower muscle(肌肉). As you s7 raise the bar, your willpower will gain strength day by day.

【题目】Answer the questions:

Fran Klans is the owner of a coffeehouse in Beckley, West Virginia. Her coffeehouse is called Serendipity. Until this fall, Serendipity was a comfortable place to drink coffee and chat with friends. That all changed when Klaus met Cameron Taylor. Taylor is a computer expert. He wanted to bring new technology to West Virginia.

Klaus and Taylor decided to turn Serendipity into a cybercafé. "It was like a bolt of lightning hit us both at the same time," Klaus said. "When we met, we realized what a good team we would be."

With the popularity of computers, email, and the Internet, the newly opened cybercafé at Serendipity is very busy. It was just what Beckley, West Virginia needed.

Serendipity is the first cybercafé in West Virginia, but cybercafés are not unusual in other parts of the country. In fact, the first one in the United States opened in 1984. In the early 1990s, there were fewer than 100. Today, cybercafés are popular in many places. There are now over 1000 cybercafés in cities round the world.

Serendipity's cybercafé has four new computers. Customers can use the computers to do many things. For example, they can write business reports, do homework, or play games. They can also use the computers to surf the Internet, send or receive email messages, and find entertainment information. They can do all of these things in the comfort of a coffeehouse atmosphere.

"We are a favourite place for young professionals and students," Klaus said. "You see lots of people here with laptop computers. Computers and coffee cups, business and coffee beans. They just seem to go together.

The cybercafé is also a favourite place for travelers. "Travelers can check their email, send business documents, communicate with their office, and have a cup of coffee at the same time.

Adding a cybercafé is not the only change for the comfortable coffeehouse. In the future, Klaus and Taylor want to install video-conferencing equipment. With video-conferencing, customers can have face-to-face business meetings with people across the globe.

Serendipity's future plans also include poetry readings on Thursday nights and musical events on Saturday nights.

Lots of people seem to enjoy going to Serendipity's cybercafé. As Klaus said, "Where else can you surf the Net and enjoy a cup of cappuccino with friends?"

1What did people use to do in Serendipity before Klaus met Taylor?

2Who thought of the idea of turning Serendipity into a cybercafé, Klaus or Taylor?

3Cybercafés are rarely seen in other parts of the United States, are they?

4What can customers use the new computers to do?

They can use the new computers to do many things such as writing business reports, doing homework, or playing games and _________________.

5Who are the regular customers of the cybercafé?

6What is Klaus and Taylor's future plan besides poetry reading and musical events?

7What does Klaus actually mean by saying "Where else can you surf the Net and enjoy a cup of cappuccino with friends?"
