Every eighth-grade boy at one American school, became a gentleman(绅士) on May 29, the school’s Gentlemen’s Day.

On that day, the boys learned to treat(对待)girls with respect( 尊重). It all started in the morning. The boys dressed up well and welcomed the girls at the school gate(大门). And then, they opened doors and carried books for the girls. Tonja Williams, a teacher at the school, said videos and songs gave students bad examples about how to treat girls. She thought that the activity would be good for the students’ lives.

Both boys and girls liked the activity. The girls said that this would be a start for the boys to stop bullying(欺凌) them at school.

Like many greeter organizations, Big Apple accepts online donations to help with its daily costs.

Chicago Greeters help visitors visit one of the city's many famous neighbourhoods.
