Just 17 days after the closing ceremony of the Rio Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games(残奥会) came. It lasted from September 7 to 18.
China took part in the ones for the first time in 1984. Since then ,the Chinese athletes have appeared in each Paralympics and got very good results, China has become a real “sports power” in the world.
The Paralympic Games are usually organized after the Olympic Games. It was started by some retired soldiers （士兵）after World War Ⅱ in 1948. Now it has become one of the largest international sports events.
In 2008, the Beijing Paralympics proved to be one of the most successful Paralympic Games in history according to the number of the participants(参与者)，the world records they set up and the audience attendance around the world.
This year, there were 499 people in the Chinese delegation(中国代表团) of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, including 308 athletes, at an average age of 26. They came from 25 provinces, regions or cities of China. They won 239 medals in all, and have been the heroes of China.
