“Beauty is only skin deep.” This expression means that beauty is only a temporary and surface(暂时而表面的) quality. And some beauty products can cause lasting harm that goes far below the surface of the skin. But people, especially women, will take a lot of risks for beauty.
In the United States, many people use sunlight and non-natural light to darken their skin. Health experts are against it, because it may lead to skin cancer.
In the African country of Senegal, some women take health risks trying to do just the opposite. They use products that lighten the skin. The World Health Organization says that 25 percent of Senegalese women use skin-lightening products. These products can have some chemicals such as mercury, hydroquinone and sodium hydroxide These are dangerous ingredients (成份) that can cause cancer and possibly other physical harm to the skin. They can even burn the eyes and skin.
Women in Senegal say they lighten their skin for the same reasons: women all over the world make changes to their looks. They say they want to look beautiful, to find a husband, or to stand out in a crowd. But some products are so strong. THEY must be mixed with others before they are used.
A woman filmmaker Khardiata Sall from Senegal made a movie “This Color That Worries Me”. It's about the subject of skin lightening. “I used the most scary pictures so that women would clearly see the dangers. It is hard to understand why a woman would tell herself that dark skin is not beautiful. It is in their heads. They want to please a man, to be loved. Or they want to please the society, to succeed.” Ms. Sall says the government needs to better control the market and the sale of skin lightening products. But she adds education is the best way to tell people against using them.

D.wants to be white
(2)The word “THEY” in the fourth paragraph means ____________.
A.mercury, hydroquinone and sodium hydroxide
B.women in Senegal

A.you want to please your parents
B.you want to make changes to your hobbies
C.you want to look better than men
D.you want to find a good job
(4)If you put the passage into three parts, which of the following is the best?( ①=Para. (自然段)1 ②=Para. 2 ③=Para.3 ④=Para.4 ⑤=Para.5 )

Ms.Sall says that the government needs to better control the marketing and sale of skin lightening products. But she adds that education is the best way to persuade people against using them.
根据短文中的句子“But some products are so strong. THEY must be mixed with others before they are used.”
根据短文中的句子“Women in Senegal say they lighten their skin for the same reasons: women all over the world make changes to their looks. They say they want to look beautiful, to find a husband, or to stand out in a crowd.” A. you want to please your parents你想取悦你的父母;B. you want to make changes to your hobbies你想改变你的爱好;C. you want to look better than men你想看起来比男人更漂亮;D. you want to find a good job你想找一份好工作。

When an animal helps another animal,it usually gets something valuable in return. For a long time, many scientists thought that only people could act generously just because it feels good.
However,a new study in Germany suggests that chimpanzees (an animal like a large monkey without a tail ) also do good things for no real reason. And so do children who are as young as 18 months of age. Maybe it is because humans and chimpanzees share an ancestor about 6million years ago.
People and chimpanzees appear to develop such features without any other training, says Warneken,a scientist in Germany.
Warneken and his partners worked on adult chimpanzees that live on an island in the African country of Uganda. They also worked with 18-month-old children in Germany. The researchers performed three experiments on the adult chimpanzees and two experiments on the kids. In the first animal experiment,a person tried to reach his arm into a cage to get a stick, but he couldn't reach it. A chimpanzee was in the cage, and it could reach the stick if it wanted to.
Thirty-six chimpanzees took part in this experiment one by one,and no chimpanzee saw what the other chimpanzees had done. Even though the animals hadn’t met the person before, they usually took the stick and gave it to the person. What's more, they did this whether or not the person offered them bananas as a reward.
In a similar experiment,36 children acted in a similar way. They helped the person reach the stick, whether or not they were offered toys for their help.
Researchers did other experiments on chimpanzees and babies. No rewards were offered in either experiment. And still, both the chimpanzees and children went out of their way to help. Still, the new study is different from earlier findings. Researchers have found that chimpanzees don't give rewards of food to other chimpanzees, even if it costs them nothing to be generous.
(1)A new study in Germany suggests that .
A.people also share information for good reason
B.children know something at the age of 18 months
C.chimpanzees do good things for no real reason, too
D.humans should develop their abilities 6 million years ago
(2)Warneken and his partners worked with ______.
A.young chimpanzee that live on an island
B.18-month-old children who live in Germany
C.kids who are living with adult chimpanzees
D.adult chimpanzees that live on the African mountain
(3)Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
A.The animals hadn’t met the person before the experiments
B.No chimpanzee saw what the other chimpanzees had done
C.Chimpanzee gave the person the stick in order to get a reward
D.Thirty-six chimpanzees joined in this experiment one by one
(4)In a similar experiment,thirty-six children helped the person reach the stick ______ .
A.if they were offered toys for their work
B.when they were asked to give them a hand
C.after they were ordered to act in a similar way
D.whether they were given toys for their help or not

A.children is more generous than chimpanzees in some ways
B.chimpanzees will reward good food to other chimpanzees
C.both chimpanzees and children can find their way to help others
