Many of us have feelings of loneliness as we grow up. As a teenager, just eating alone in the dining hall can’t be acceptable, and girls even go to the restrooms hand in hand. They fear being called a “loner”.

In these cases, we might use the word “loner” in a disapproving (不赞成的) way. However, it can actually have a positive meaning as well.

It all depends on our attitude toward being alone. If we see being alone as something not very good, we will be against it. But if we understand that it’s an everyday part of life, we’ll be able to “hug the beauty of our solo (单独的) journey”, as best-selling US writer Mandy Hale wrote in her book The Single Woman.

In some countries, more young people are choosing to be loners. In South Korea, “honjok” has become a growing lifestyle. The word comes from Korean “hon” (alone) and “jok” (group). These people eat alone, travel alone, and enjoy being by themselves. “I hope it grows into a self-supporting culture of happiness.” said Jang Jae Young, a South Korean who runs a website about this solo lifestyle called www.honjok.me.

In Japan, people have developed a strong “loner culture” and even a “loner economy (经济).” There are many solo KTVs and solo coffee bars. Noodle restaurants for solo customers are especially popular. There are boards which separate each seat. Customers fill out a form to make an order, and then press a button to call the waiter. They don’t see the faces of other customers or waiters.

People are becoming more experienced in and comfortable about being alone. This doesn’t mean we should totally keep ourselves away from the outside world, of course. But it doesn’t hurt to have some “me time” once in a while.

1.From the passage we know that “honjok” ________.

A.means a group of loners B.is a culture which brings people closer

A.①; ②③; ④⑤⑥ B.①; ②③④; ⑤⑥

4.The best title of this passage is ________.

A.Ways to Deal with Aloneness B.A Tradition of Aloneness in Asian Countries

The loveliest house that I have ever lived in was one that my grandparents owned. This house was called Crosslands. I lived there when I was a child. I had some very happy times at Crosslands. It seemed so big to me as a child. It had a big beautiful living room with a piano in it and a large hall. There was a mysterious drawing room which we only used on Sundays or on special occasions.

I used to be amazed by this room because it had the best furniture in it, but it was covered up with sheets(床单). It was as if all the furniture was wearing clothes and it seemed ridiculous to me that we couldn't enjoy this lovely furniture all week long.

The kitchen had lovely red floor, which was always polished, and one big heater to heat the whole room so it was always warm. There was also kind of clotheshorse(晒衣架) above it that we used to hang all our stuff on, and it was just lovely. It was a very warm room and my grandmother used to make ice cream that we'd eat there.

I spent a lot of time in the vegetable garden picking peas and eating them. My grandmother used to get really angry with me because I would pick all the vegetables and fruit for dinner, but eat half of it before she could start cooking. The homegrown food tasted so fresh and delicious. I went back to Crosslands a few years ago but it turned out to be a big mistake. They've modernized the house and gotten rid of those lovely old fireplaces. They've also knocked wall down so the drawing room and living room have become one big, modern room. I think the house has become smaller and my memory of this lovely, large, warm, comfortable house was completely different.

It taught me a valuable lesson: ________________________________________.

Several train passengers have made people angry across the county. On Aug. 21.a video posted online showed a man sitting in the wrong set on a train from Jinan to Beijing and he refused to take his own seat because he wanted to sit by the window. When a train conductor(乘务员) asked him to move, he said he could not stand and needed a wheelchair. The China Railway Jinan Group later prevented the man from train travel for 180 days and he was also fined (罚款)200 Yuan.

A similar case also happened on Sept 23. A foreign woman took another person’s seat on a train and refused to leave. When passengers began shooting video of her with their phones, she shouted and threw water at them. The woman was then taken away. Later, she realized that she was wrong and said sorry to the passengers she had attacked(攻击)

These cases are like a mirror that shows our society's attitude. They show that we need to behave in a more proper way. If people don’t follow laws and rules in public, they should be punished.

1.A video posted online showed a man's bad behavior on the plane.

2.The man didn't move back to his own seat because he couldn’t stand and needed a wheel chair.

3.The man will not be allowed to take the train for about 6 minutes.

4.The foreign woman who took a wrong seat behaved badly from the beginning to the end.

5.The writer suggests that we should pay more attention to our behavior in public.
