    17．Oprah Winfrey was born on January 29，1954，in Mississippi，and she was an unwanted child，whose parents were unmarried．She lived with her grandmother until 1960．She remembers standing on her grandmother's porch and thinking，"My life won't be like this and it will be better．"In fact，it is better-much better．She has made much money，and"the Oprah Winfrey Show"has won many awards．
         When she was a little girl，Oprah Winfrey was very smart．By the age of three，she had learned to read and write．She also made her first public show appearance at that age．She read from the Biblein church and was famous for being the little girl who talked a lot．Sincethen，talking has been the most important part of her life．
         In 1971，she was offered a job at a radio station．Next，she hosted a talk show，"People Are Talking"，and people liked her warm interviewing style．After a year，the show was renamed"The Oprah Winfrey Show，"and she became a star．
         Winfrey's real dream，though，was to be an actor．
         Finally，she achieved this when she acted in"The Color Purple"in 1985．Her performance won her an Oscar nomination（奥斯卡提名）．She now has her own company．Winfrey says her greatest lesson in her life is"I live my life not to please other people，but to follow my heart．"
