Reading comprehension.
“Well, Bill. I'm not sure whether to send you to heaven or hell. After all, you greatly helped society by putting a computer in almost every home, yet you also created that terrible Windows XP. I'm going to let you decide where you want to go.”
Bill replied,
“Well, what's the difference between the two?”God said,
“I'm willing to let you visit both places, to see if it will help your decision.”“Okay, then,”said Bill,“Let's try hell first.”
So Bill went to hell. It was a beautiful, clean, sandy beach with clear water and lots of beautiful women running around, laughing and playing about. The sun was shining; the temperature perfect. He was very pleased.
“This is great,”he told God.“If this is hell, I really want to see heaven.”
“Fine,”said God, and off they went.
Heaven was a place high in the clouds, beautiful and sunny, with angels flying about. It was nice, but not as nice as hell.
“Hmmm, I think I'd prefer hell,”he told God.
“Fine,”replied God,“as you desire(如你所愿).”
So Bill Gates went to hell.
Two weeks later, God decided to see how Bill was doing in hell. When he got there, he found Bill shackled
(披枷带锁)to a wall being burned by demons(魔鬼).“How is everything doing?”He asked Bill.
“This is terrible. This is nothing like the hell I visited two weeks ago. What happened to that other place, with the beaches and the beautiful women playing in the water?”
“Oh,”God said,“what you saw is a screensaver(屏幕保护)I designed by myself. Glad you like it!”
True or false:
(1) God offered Bill a chance to choose where to go because he thought that Bill was a kind man.
(2) Bill preferred the hell to the heaven.
(3) Bill decided to stay in hell as soon as he got there.
(4) What Bill had seen in the heaven was real while what he had seen in the hell was not.
(5) Bill was cheated by God.

Mark Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984. As a little kid, he loved creating little fun computer programs, especially communication tools and games.
When he was a student at Harvard University, Mark founded (创建)Facebook on February 4, 2004. Through Facebook, Harvard students could communicate with each other. Facebook quickly became a great success at Harvard and more than two-thirds of the school’s students used it in the first two weeks. It soon spread further to any university students, then high school students, and, finally, to anyone aged 13 and over in the US.
Facebook developed fast and became popular. People can communicate with others, add friends, and send them messages. Now, it has more than 175 million users all over the world.
Many big companies have offered a very high price to buy Facebook, but Mark refused them all. His reason was simple. “We are not planning to sell it. We don’t want to make money from it. We just hope Facebook will make it easier for people to know each other.”
Sometimes the simplest ideas go the furthest. We hope Mark can go much further, maybe even further than Bill Gates!
1.What was Mark interested in when he was a little kid?
2.Where was Facebook first used in the United States?
3.How many people use Facebook in the world now?
4.Why did Mark not want to sell Facebook to other companies?
5.What do you think of Mark Zuckerberg? (请考生自拟一句话作答)
