Sixteen is a special age in the United States. There¡¯s often a special celebration for a girl¡¯s 16th birthday---a big party called Sweet-16. It is like a wedding reception(½á»éÍíÑç) in the number of guests and gifts handed out.

About a month before the party, the girl¡¯s family sends out invitations to the guests. They must buy a special present for the birthday girl and the girl guests find good dresses to wear. A sweet-16 present usually costs $40 to $60. This is about $20 more than the usual-cost of a birthday present.

The party itself is not held at someone¡¯s house. The hostess rents(×âÁÞ) a reception hall for the event. Food, cake and a DJ are provided. Around 6¡¯clock, guests arrive and meet the birthday girl. Then the girl and her father have a special father-daughter dance. After that, guests dance for about 30 to 45 minutes.

Then there is the most important part of the Sweet-16 party, the candle-lighting ceremony.

The sweet-16 hostess stands behind 16 unlit(δµãȼµÄ) candles and dedicates(Ï׸ø) each candle to her friends, family, and anything that she feels is important to her. A lot of crying and hugging goes on at this time.

Afterwards, people sit and eat. Most guests begin leaving around 11 o¡¯clock.

This school year, I have been to two Sweet-16s. I am one of the youngest students in my grade (My birthday is in December). I¡¯ll have to wait another year before I can have my own special Sweet-16 party. I can¡¯t wait for it!

A group of swans flew down to a beach where a crow(ÎÚÑ») was jumping around. The crow watched them with disdain(±ÉÊÓ).

¡°You have no flying skills at all!¡± he said to the swans. ¡°All you can do is to move your wings. Can you turn over in the air? No, you can¡¯t. Let¡¯s have a flying competition. I¡¯ll show you what real flying is!¡±

One of the swans, strong and young, took up the challenge. The crow flew up and began to show his skills. He showed flying tricks, and then came down and looked proudly at the swan.

Now it was the swan¡¯s turn. He flew up, and began flying over the sea. The crow flew after him, making all kinds of comments (ÆÀ¼Û) about his flying. They flew on and on till they couldn¡¯t see the land and there was nothing but water on all sides. The crow was making fewer and fewer comments. He was now so exhausted that he found it hard to stay in the air, and had to try to keep himself from falling into the water.

The swan pretended (¼Ù×°) not to notice, and said, ¡°Why do you keep touching the water, brother? Is that another trick?¡±

¡°No,¡± said the crow. He knew he had lost the competition. ¡°I¡¯m in trouble because I am proud! If you don¡¯t help me, I¡¯ll lose my life¡¡±

The swan took pity on him, and took him on his shoulders and flew back to the beach.

It was wonderful to travel around Taiwan. I still remember my last trip to Taiwan.

First, I visited National Palace Museum in Taiwan. It was built in 1962. It was completed(Íê³É) in 1965. In this museum, you can find lots of exhibitions. It is said that the museum keeps about 600,000 artworks. The workers of the museum said they changed exhibitions every three months.

Yinke was the second place I visited. The town is like 19th century European houses and has a lot of small streets as in old England.

It was a great experience to visit Keelung. The Keelung coasts are very famous for their wonderful scenes. There is also a seafood market. You can buy fresh products there.

I then arrived at Danshui. The most interesting place of Danshui is the Lovers Bridge. The bridge connects one side of the river with the other side. It is about 40 meters long. However, only one person can cross it at a time.

I like Taiwan and I want to visit Taiwan again if I have time.

B. You can find lots of exhibitions in the museum.

C. They change exhibitions every three months.

D. It took people about five years to finish building(½¨Ôì) the museum.

2. Why does the writer think the Keelung coasts are very famous?

A. Because fresh products there are very famous.

B. Because people can buy wonderful seafood there.

C. Because the coasts have wonderful scenes.

D. Because there are some beautiful European houses.

3. What does the underlined word ¡° it ¡± refer to?

A. The town. B. Old England.

C. The experience. D. To visit Keelung.

4.What is the best title for the passage?

A. Taiwan And Keelung. B. Lovers Bridge.
