If you are a young music fan, you must have known about TFBOYs, one of China’s most popular music groups. On April 18, 2018, Chinese singer and actor Wang Junkai had a new role. He has become a UN environmental National Goodwill Ambassador(联合国环境署亲兽大使).
You might wonder why Wang, or Karry Wang, has got such a special job. In fact, Karry has been best- known for his leading roles in movies and some of his hot songs. What's more, he has spoken out on environmental problems, making his a leader on the topic among Chinese young people.
As a goodwill ambassador, Wang will connect with Chinese young people on some of the most serious environmental problems, including pollution and the protection of wild animals.
“It's our duty to protect the environment and improve our future." Wang said, “And I'm looking forward to leaning from and working with the UN family on key environmental problems.”
“Young people are no longer onlookers when taking about environmental protection. Each of us should pay a part in saving the environment. I will do everything I can to take care of our earth and invite everyone to join me." he added.
So far, the 18-year old performer has got more than 40 million fans on the Internet. Both in China and in some other Asian countries, Wang has been one of the key voices in the online conversation on the environment.
