    Singapore’s public transport system (公共交通系统) is one of the best in the world, so you should have no problem finding your way around like a local. There are three main forms of public transport here that you would find in any other big city--trains, buses and taxis.

    		TRAINS
    Trains run from 6 a.m. to midnight. Single trip tickets start at 80 cents. If you buy an EZ-Link card for $15, you can take the trains and buses as you like. If you need more information, just call Transit Link at 18007674333.
    BUSES

    There are three main taxi companies--City Cab（65522222），Comfort（65521111）and Tibs（65528888）.Booking can also be made easily by calling the number above.
    RENTAL（租）CARS
    Driving in Singapore is a pleasure and if you like to travel as you like, renting a car is a good choice. Renting takes away the trouble of getting to places around Singapore.     As a child, I was really afraid of the dark and of getting lost. These fears were very real and caused me some uncomfortable moments.
    Maybe it was the strange way things looked and sounded
    in my own room at night that scared me so much. There was

After school, though, when all the buses were lined up along the street, I was afraid that I would get in the wrong one and be taken to some other strange places. On school or family trips to a park or a museum, I wouldn’t let the leaders out of my sight.
    Perhaps one of the worst fears of all I had as a child was that of not being liked or accepted by others. Being popular was so important to me then, and the fear of not being liked was a serious one.
    One of the processes(过程) growing up is being able to realize and overcome our fears. Understanding the things that scared us as children helps us achieve greater success later in life.

    There are many unusual hotels around the world. In Greenland(格陵兰岛), there is a hotel made of ice, open between December and April every year. In Turkey(土耳其), there is a cave(岩洞) hotel with a television, furniture, and a bathroom in each room. And in Bolivia(玻利维亚), there is a hotel named the Salt Palace Hotel.
    Thousands of years ago, the area around the Salt Palace Hotel was a large lake. But today, the area has only two small lakes and two salt deserts(荒漠).
    The larger of the two deserts is called Uyuni salt desert. During the day, the desert is bright white because of the salt. There are no roads across the Uyuni desert, so local people must show guests the way to the hotel.
    In the early 1990s, a man named Juan Quesada built the hotel. He cut big blocks of salt from the desert and used the blocks to build it. Everything in the hotel is made of salt: the walls, the roof(屋顶), the tables, the chairs, the beds, and the hotel’s bar.
    The sun makes the walls and roof warm during the day. At night the desert is very cold, but the rooms are warm. The hotel has twelve rooms. A single room(单人间) costs＄40 a night, and a double room(双人间) costs＄60.
    A sign on the hotel’s wall tells guests, “ Please don’t lick（添）the walls.”
