Fortune tellers would say that they could know something about a person by looking at the palms. Now, according to a new study, psychologists(心理学家)may be looking at people's fingers for an insight(洞悉,了解)into their personality. In a study published by the journal Biological Psychology, researchers from the University of Alberta in Canada found a relationship between finger length and physically aggressive(富于攻击性)personality.

What does finger length have to do with personality? For over one hundred years, it has been known that men and women have different length ratios(比率)between their index and ring fingers. In a more recent study, smaller index fingers were also connected with higher levels of physical aggression in men throughout their lives. This relationship was only true for physical aggression, not for other types of aggressive behaviors.

The important thing to remember is that these studies only show possibilities. This means that finger length doesn't cause aggressive behaviors. There are also many people out there who have short index fingers but are not aggressive, and many people with long index fingers but are aggressive.
