     Many people keep pigeons (鹤子) as favorite pets because they look cute and beautiful. In fact pigeons are man's friends and they can do many things for us.       London is the name of a British (英国的) racing pigeon. It lost its way home fromFrance (法国) ,but it lived a new life inChina. It is also bringing up a family there,its owner said on March 23.

      The pigeon's owner is William Pope. He said London lost its way home two years ago during a 556-mile race fromFrancetoEngland. It turned east (东方) instead of north (北方) and at last flew into a big yard (院子) in Beijing. It chose the best possible place for a new home.

      "A short time ago I was very happy to get the beautiful pigeon" , said Li Ruyong,the bird's owner now. The bird was wearing an identification (身份证明) tag (项圈) .Li wrote to Pope after he found out the bird's owner through the International Pigeon Fancier's Network (国际爱鹆网) .He told Pope that the pigeon was now the father of eight pigeons.
