    Returning a father's love
    He was a single father, raising a 5-year-old boy by himself. He was often worried about his son growing up without a mother to care for him.
    One day, he went away on business, leaving the child alone. He worried about the child all the way, not knowing if he had eaten. But his child always told him not to worry. He went home after he finished his work.
    When he got home, the child was deep asleep. He was tired out. He was about to sleep when he was surprised to find an overturned（翻倒） bowl of noodles under the quilt, （被子）
    He hit his sleeping son angrily ,”Why are you so careless , making the quilt dirty ? Who will wash it ?” It was the first time that he had hit his boy after his wife’s death .
    “sorry , but ....” the child explained with tears in his eyes , “This is your supper ,Daddy .” In order to let his father eat dinner the moment he got home , the child prepared two bowls of noddles : one for himself , the other for his father . He was afraid that his father’s noodles would get cold , so he placed them under the quilt .
    Hearing this , the father hugged his boy tightly without saying a word .

    My dad used to say he knew I would be a singer. When I was a baby, I was always singing loudly. Dad was a big sports fan, but he was happy I loved music.

    I will always remember that smile. I was so pleased to know that Dad had heard me sing one more song.
    My dad died on May 14, 2000. It was hard to believe: he was so full of life. I don’t know how to say how much I miss him.
    Now I have all the memories of him and his beautiful smile deep inside my heart. I will always know that he is listening from his front row seat in heaven.
    He used to say: “Sing from your heart.”
    My dad has been and will always be my hero.

    When my son, Mark, was in the third grade, he saved all his pocket money for over three months to buy holiday presents. The third Saturday in December Mark said he had made his list and had twenty dollars in his pocket.
    I drove him to a nearby supermarket. Mark picked up a hand basket and went in while I waited and watched in the car. It took Mark over 45 minutes to choose his present.     On February 9th, 2013, Sarah Darling was walking along the street when she met a homeless man named Billy Ray Harris. She reached into her change purse, emptied out all the coins she had and gave them to the homeless man. Neither of them realized that this small generous act would change their lives.

    Bill Krejci, a web designer, felt that he needed to do something more for this amazingly honest man. So on February 18th, he set up a special page to raise money for him. In just four days, Billy received over $85,000 and there seems to be no end yet.
    That is not enough. Billy is living with a person who is generous instead of living in the streets. And that’s not all—Thanks to the news report, he got together again with his older brother, Edwin Harris who he had been unable to find for 27 years.
    All the good luck is just because Billy did the right thing—returning something that did not belong to him.

    Let’s face it: homework can be almost as frustrating (沮丧) for parents as it is for kids. Getting kids to do their homework can be a challenge, and when they do sit down to study, a lot of other problems can appear.
    Doing homework may not be as fun as playing video games or chatting with friends, but it shouldn’t be something that kids hate. Your children’s assignments (任务) should help them build a skill or learn something new.

    If parents feel that their kids are overloaded (超负荷), they can talk about it with the teachers. If you think it takes your child too long to finish homework, try to make a decision whether the problem lies in having too much work or managing time poorly.
    If your child complains of boredom while doing homework, give him or her the following suggestions:
    Get help from friends: if your children are bored with an assignment, let them call a friend for help or invite a friend over to work on it with them.
    Add physical activity: set mini-goals for homework and allow time for relaxing, jumping around, or a snack after each goal is completed. For a kid who can’t sit still, find active ways to study.
    Turn the tables: let your children teach you a lesson. Let them give you a test on the things they have just learned.
