    You may have heard of Robin Li. After all, Robin Li is considered as "the man who compete against Google and won", thanks to his creation of Baidu, China's largest search engine in China. But what do you really know about the 51-year-old man?

    Born in 1968, Li was the 4th of 5 children born to factory workers in Yangquan of Shanxi Province in northern China. Back then, Yangquan was an underdeveloped city that did not offer much to its people. Like most of the kids in the neighborhood, Li spent his childhood in hardships.

    His mother, however, encouraged him to stay hopeful for a better tomorrow. He grew up remembering his mother's words, "If you want a better life in the future, you will have to study hard and make sure you get into the best college."

    Li never forgot his mother's words and studied hard. He cleared the entrance of Peking University and completed Bachelor of Science Degree in library information management. He later completed a postgraduate(研究生）course for computer science with a Master's Degree at the University of Buffalo, the State University of New York.

    In 1999, Li and his wife Melissa went for an activity at Stanford University. After that Melissa asked her husband that she would like to see him as a founder of an Internet company. Bearing(怀揣）a dream of changing people's life with science and technology and encouraged by Melissa, Robin Li returned to China and founded Baidu at the end of 1999. After years of efforts, Baidu has become the most popular Chinese website in China, the largest Chinese search engine and the largest Chinese website.
