    13．Go into a busy bookstore and you will notice that the women are reading about fashion，beauty or friendship and the men are reading about cars，sport or technology．This should not be a surprise．After all，these choices are quite typical for women and men-women like working with people while men enjoy working with tools，objects and materials．
    When we look at young babies，we see that baby boys and girls show the typical hobbies at a very early age．A 12-month baby girl will look longer at people while boys of the same age look longer at toys．
    So where do these differences between men and women come from？Scientists believed that parents had a lot of influence（影响） on their children．But many scientists now believe that the answer is also in the amount of man and woman hormones（激素） in the mother's body before a child's birth．Study has shown that this leads to three types of brain（大脑类型）：type S，type E and type B．People who are born with a type S or man brain are interested in objects．They are good at building and using tools and working out how things work．People with a type E or woman brain are good at understanding other people's feelings and treating people with great care．Others are born with both man and woman brains-this is called the type B or balanced brain．
    Perhaps the most important thing that the scientists found out was that sex（性别）doesn't decide the type of brain you have．Not all men have the type S brain，and not all women have the type E brain．But on average，more men than women have a type S brain，and more women than men have a type E brain．
    So does this mean that one type of brain is better than another？No，not at all．Some people find that some things are easier to do than others because they are born to be interested in them．They are good at doing certain things naturally．Scientists hope that understanding how people are born with different types of brain can help make all of us more open to the difference．
