    There are three parts to the Global Positioning System．The first part is the receiver．You can hold it in your hand, or have it fixed into your car, plane, etc．The second part is a group of satellites orbiting the Earth．The receiver contacts at least four of the satellites and calculates （计算） its position．The third part of the system is a network of ground stations．They are all over the world．They control the satellites and make sure they are working well.

    Some people think that in the future the GPS will be as common as the mobile．They are becoming cheaper and more and more accurate （精确的）．There are also new uses for the GPS．Perhaps they will become like watches. Everyone will have one and you will never be lost again.

    Going green seems to be fad(时尚) for a lot of people these days. Whether that is good or bad, we can’t really say, but for the two of us, going green is not a fad but a lifestyle.

    On April 22, 2011, we decided to go green every day for a whole year. This meant doing 365 different green things, and it also meant challenging ourselves to go green beyond easy things. We have greatly reduced our buying we don’t need. We have given away half of what we owned through websites. Our home is kept clean by vinegar(醋) and lemon juice, with no chemical cleaners(化学清洁剂). We make our own butter, enjoying the smell of home-made fresh bread. In our home, anyone caught doing something ungreen might be punished.

    Our minds have been changed by Our Green Year. We are thankful for the chance to have been able to go green and educate others. We believe that we do have the power to change things and help our planet.
