Dear Mike,
In your last e-mail,you asked me about the Science and Technology Festival in our school. I'm glad to tell you something about it.
This activity is aimed at improving students' practice skills, and developing team spirit. Students make preparations for the festival. We form groups, choose programs and then begin research and experiments. Finally it is the time to vshow the amazing science and technology experiment results. For instance, thrown from high points, eggs are still unbroken and complete. A bridge made from paper can bear people standing on it.
From this activity,I realize the importance of teamwork and am amazed by the charm of science and technology. I have found my interest in science.
I'm looking forward to learning about your school life.
Yours,
Li Hua

Look around and you¡¯ll see people busy on their smartphones. Smartphones do make our lives easier. But have you ever thought about what they mean to your eyes?
According to a study, half of British people own smartphones and they spend anaverage (ƽ¾ù) of two hours a day using them There has been a 35% increasing number of people in the UK who suffer from shortsightedness (½üÊÓ) since smartphones were introduced there in 1997.
Staring (¶¢) at smartphones for a long time gives you dry eyes. When looking at something in the distance, your eyes automatically blink (×Ô¶¯Õ£ÑÛ) a certain number of times. However, when you look at things closer to your face, the blinking slows down. This reduces the amount of tears and causes discomfort in your eyes. Another bad habit is using smartphones in a dark room before going to sleep. If you look at a bright screen while your pupils (ÄÀ¿×) become larger¡¯ too much light enters your eyes. This can do harm to the eyes and cause a disease called glaucoma (Çà¹âÑÛ) .
While you¡¯re probably not going to stop using your smartphones, there are a few things you can do to protect your eyes. Hold your phone at least 30 centimeters away from your eyes when using it. Take a break every hour and try the following£º
