【题目】阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
I love travelling so you can imagine my disappointment when I know that my local train station would be closed for five months. Unfortunately I do not have a car but I realized that I could start carpooling.
Carpooling is the sharing of car journeys so that more than one person travels in a car. As a result, carpooling can be a cheaper choice than public transport because everyone in the car shares the cost of petrol (汽油). I recently did carpooling for the first time and it was very easy to find a driver. I used a website which lists drivers’ descriptions and found someone who was going to the same place as me. The descriptions provided a lot of information such as the driver’s first name, age and gender as well as reviews form previous (以前的)passengers. I decided to travel with a lady who had very good reviews. I paid for my share of the petrol through the website and planned to meet her in the town center.
It may seem quite dangerous to travel with strangers but there are some safety actions. Firstly, the driver cannot receive your money until you text him or her a code (密码) at the end of your journey. This means that if you are unsatisfied with your trip, the driver will not be paid. Secondly, it is important to read quite a number of the drivers’ descriptions and reviews when you choose a driver. Lastly, I would suggest travelling with a friend so that you will feel safer and less lonely.
I had a very good experience of carpooling. Not only was the trip very cheap, but the driver and the other passengers were really friendly. They were all French so I had the chance to practice speaking some French. As train and petrol prices are rising, both drivers and passengers can benefit from this cheaper form of travel. More importantly,, carpooling provides a fantastic opportunity to meet interesting people on your travels.

【题目】 Answer the questions(根据短文内容回答下列问题)
Quite a few people believe that the phases of the moon(月相) affect the behavior of human and other creatures. That is known as the lunar(月亮) effect. The lunar effect has been around for many centuries. The power of the moon is often used to explain wide range of events, such as human insanity(精神错乱), and increases in violent crimes and traffic accidents.
According to some traditions, for example, before the coming of modern techniques, surgeons would refuse to operate on the full moon nights because of the in- creased risk of death of the patient through blood loss. The idea behind the lunar effect has even found its way into the news. For example, it has been said that the full moon may have influenced voters’ behavior in the 2000 U. S. presidential election.
Does the moon affect our behavior at all? Some people say it does. They say the moon causes the tides, so surely that the moon has an effect on people and we our- selves are full of water, too. But scientists point out that the moon only affects unrestrained(不受控制的) waters, such as oceans. The water in our bodies isn’t even comparable. And over fifty years of research has shown nothing to prove the existence of a causative link(因果联系) between the moon and areas such as mental illness birth rates, crime, or accidents.
There is an explanation for why people link the full moon to unusual human behavior. The reason is that people have selective memories. When something unusual happens and there is a full moon, people might notice the moon and think it is to be blamed.
【1】What do quite few people believe?

【2】What is used to explain wide range of events?

【5】How long has the research on the lunar effect been done?

【题目】 Why do you feel encouraged when your teacher gives you a smile? How do you know your mother is angry when she frowns? In both cases, the person is telling us something not with words, but with facial expressions.
Facial expressions are one or more movements on a person’s face, such as frowning, raising one’s eyebrows, and nose and lip movements. They express people’s feelings.
Scientists at Oxford University have shown that humans have 80 muscles on their faces. These muscles can create more than 7,000 facial expressions. However, there are five main kinds of facial expressions that are common in all cultures: happiness, sadness, surprise, fear and anger. Facial expressions are very important to communication. One study at UCLA, in the US, showed that in most conversations, over 93 percent of the communicating is done without speaking.
If people can read facial expressions, they may be better at knowing what other people are feeling, so they can understand them better. Someone who does not enjoy a certain type of food usually will make a face when they see or taste it. A frown means worry or anger. Raised eyebrows and open eyes show surprise.
However, there are some taboos for reading people’s facial expressions. For example, it is not a good idea to stare at someone for a long time while you are reading his or her facial expressions. They may think you are rude.
【1】Which of the following is TRUE according to the story?
A.No facial expressions are the same in different cultures.
B.Our face muscles can create 80 facial expressions.
C.Reading facial expressions can help people understand each other.
D.You can stare at someone while reading his or her facial expressions.
【2】When someone feels surprised, he or she may________.
A.make a faceB.frown
C.give you a smileD.raise the eyebrows and open the eyes
【3】The story is mainly about________.
A.types of facial expressionsB.how facial expressions are created
