brought过去时;are bringing现在进行时;bring一般现在时;have brought现在完成时;根据“I fell in love with reading”可知是一般过去时,所以此处也是一般过去时,故选A

couldn’t不能;mustn’t禁止;needn’t不需要;shouldn’t不应该;can’t afford to do sth表示“负担不起做某事”,根据“I had to solve the problem myself.”

a用于以辅音音素开始的单词前,表示一个;an用于以元音音素开始的单词前,表示一个;the表示特指,定冠词;根据前文“There was a book shop near my home.”

Make sure确保,动词原形;To make sure确保,动词不定式;Believe in信任,动词原形;To believe in信任,动词不定式;根据“Luckily, no one noticed me.”

if如果;although尽管;before之前;unless除非;根据“You may read books here ___7___ you help me clean the shop.”

will allow一般将来时;will be allowed一般将来时的被动语态;allowed一般过去时;was allowed一般过去时的被动语态;根据“I was very happy”可知是一般过去时,排除AB;结合“I”与“allow”之间是被动关系,所以此处用一般过去时的被动语态,故选D

good好;the best最好;poor穷;the poorest最穷;根据“one of”可知用最高级,排除AC;结合“I even won some prizes in writing.”

to到;for为了;with用;from从;borrow sth from sp.表示“从……借什么”,结合“ I can borrow books___10___ the library. ”可知是从图书馆借书,所以用“from”,故选D

【题目】请阅读这则新闻,根据所提供的信息,回答问题,把答案写在相应的位置上。

On October 28, 2018, a serious traffic accident happened in Chongqing. A bus and a red car collided (碰撞) at the second bridge of the Yangtze River. The bus ran out of control on the bridge and crashed into the river. All 15 passengers and the driver in the bus were killed.

At the beginning of the accident, many people doubted that the red car was going the wrong way, causing the bus to fall into the river. Others guessed that the accident was caused by the driver’s sudden illness. However, a few days later, based on the black box saved from the scene of the accident, together with the traffic records, the police announced the truth.

Before the bus reached the bridge, a female passenger had a quarrel with the bus driver because she missed her station, but the driver refused to stop the bus. So they got into a fight. Because the speed was very high, the bus was out of control.

People from all walks of life paid more attention to the accident and expressed their opinions. Some people think the woman passenger made the trouble without reason. She was regarded as the chief culprit(罪魁祸首). She shouldn't argue with the driver. Some people think drivers shouldn't fight with passengers and they should keep calm and put the passengers’ safety first at any time. As for the other passengers, they failed to dissuade (劝阻) them in time. Maybe they didn’t know the result would be so serious.

Nowadays, hundreds of people die or get injured(受伤的) on the roads every year in China. In my opinion, all of us should follow the rules and put the safety in our heart.

1When did the traffic accident happen?

_____________________________________________________________.

2How many people were killed in this accident?

______________________________________________________________.

3Why did the female passenger quarrel with the driver?

________________________________________________________________.

4Who was regarded as the chief culprit in the accident?

________________________________________________________________.

5What’s the writer’s idea?

A new report says promising children money to pass exams does not help their exam grades. It could be a waste of money using cash to get kids to study more. However, the promise of a trip could encourage students to try harder and do better at school. Scientists looked at how promises of money and tickets to shows affected students’ studying and learning. Over 10, 000 pupils took part in the survey in 2016. There was an improvement in homework, but this did not result in better test scores.

Lead researcher Dr Simon Burgess thought the survey showed something important and interesting. He said it had not found something that really got students to work harder. He added that, “Clearly, some pupils have a lot of goals and believe that education is very important in life, but there are kids who think that working hard doesn’t make a difference. He said these children think exam success is “all in your genes(基因)” because of their family background.

Education expert Dr Kevan Collins said good teachers were better than promises of rewards to get children to study, especially for children from low-income families. He wrote, “What really makes difference is how students are taught.”

A.promising children money isn’t helpful for their exam grades

B.promising children a trip doesn’t encourage them to study harder

4Dr Kevan Collins thinks _________ really make(s) a difference in kids’ study.

A month before my first marathon, one of my ankles was injured and this meant not running for two weeks, leaving me only two weeks to train. Yet, I was determined to go ahead.

I remember back to my 7th year in school. In my first P.E. class, the teacher required us to run laps and then hit a softball. I didn’t do either well. He later informed me that I was “not athletic”.

The idea that I was “not athletic” stuck with me for years. When I started running in my 30s, I realized running was a battle against myself, not about competition or whether or not I was athletic. It was all about the battle against my own body and mind. A test of wills!

The night before my marathon, I dreamt that I couldn’t even find the finish line. I woke up sweating and nervous, but ready to prove something to myself.

Shortly after crossing the start line, my shoe laces became untied. So I stopped to readjust. Not the start I wanted!

At mile 3, I passed a sign: “GO FOR IT, RUNNERS!”

By mile 17, I became out of breath and the once injured ankle hurt badly. Despite the pain, I stayed the course walking a bit and then running again.

By mile 21, I was starving!

As I approached mile 23, I could see my wife waving a sign. She is my biggest fan. She never minded the alarm clock sounding at 4 a.m. or questioned my expenses on running.

I was one of the final runners to finish. But I finished! And I got a medal. In fact, I got the same medal as the one that the guy who came in first place had.

Determined to be myself, move forward, free of shame and worldly labels (世俗标签), I can now call myself a “marathon winner”.

1A month before the marathon, the author ________.

A.was well trainedB.felt scared

C.made up his mind to runD.lost hope

2Why did the author mention the P.E. class in his 7th year?

A.To appreciate the support of his teacher.B.To amuse the readers with a funny story.

C.To show he was not talented in sports.D.To share a precious memory.

3How was the author’s first marathon?

A.He made it.B.He quit halfway.

C.He got the first prize.D.He walked to the end.

4What does the story mainly tell us?

A.A man owes his success to his family support.B.A winner is one with a great effort of will.

C.Failure is the mother of success.D.One is never too old to learn.

5The best title for the reading should be ________.

A.Not AthleticB.The Final Runner

C.The Battle Against My BodyD.My First Marathon
