¡¾´ð°¸¡¿Dear John,
Glad to receive your email. You asked me about festivals in China. Let me introduce some important ones to you.
First of all, I want to introduce the Lantern Festival. It comes in January or February. On that day, we eat yuanxiau, go to watch lantern shows and dragon dances to pray for health and happiness for the whole year.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is in the middle of autumn. It is a time for the family to get together and celebrate harvest. At night£¬the whole family eat delicious mooncakes and tell the story of Chang¡¯e while watching the big bright moon.
The Spring Festival is the most important for us Chinese. It¡¯s the beginning of a new year. We usually eat dumplings, meat and some other nice food. To welcome the new year, we do some cleaning£¬buy new clothes, set off fireworks and visit our relatives. Everyone, young or old, has a happy smile on their face.
Can you tell me something about the festivals in your country? I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours,
Zhang Ming

Nadia Comaneci, a famous gymnast (Ìå²ÙÔ˶¯Ô±), was born in Romania in 1961.
When she was doing cartwheels(²àÊÖ·)on the playground at the age of 7, a PE teacher saw her. He told her family that she was very good and advised Nadia to train in the capital of Romania. Although it was a long way from her home, Nadia went because she loved gymnastics (Ìå²Ù).
After that, she trained hard and took part in lots of competitions. In 1975, she was named as one of the Athletes of the 20th Century.
In 1976, Nadia went to the Olympics in Canada. She was so fantastic in the competition that everyone waited for the score, a high score. But the scoreboard showed 1.00!
Everyone was surprised. There wasn¡¯t a sound for a moment. Then a voice came, ¡°Ladies and gentlemen, Nadia Comaneci¡ 10!¡±
The audience (¹ÛÖÚ) cheered very loudly. So what happened? Well, when the scoreboard was built, no one thought a score of 10.00 was possible. The decimal point (СÊýµã) was in the wrong place! In fact, the scoreboard only had three digits (Êýλ) to show scores, such as 9.50 or 9.85 at that time.
In the 1976 Summer Olympics, Nadia Comaneci scored a perfect 10, which was thought impossible before. From then on, she was looked as a hero. In 1984, she got retired (ÍËÐݵÄ).

Living and dealing with kids can be a hard job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even harder.
If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship*, you need to let other person know how you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate*, you can not be close to anyone. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn¡¯t solve anything.
Communication begins with the care of another. It means that you can¡¯t just come home from school, go up to your room and ignore* everyone. Even if you just say ¡°Hi¡±, and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing. To keep a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it¡¯s just by writing a note.
When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you¡¯ll listen to what they have to say, but ask them politely to listen to you. Shouting or walking away only makes the situation worse.
Here is an example: One night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn¡¯t feel she could just ask to go home. That would be rude. After all, they had been nice enough to take her along with them. Needless to say, she was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first, but when Sophie explained why she was late, they weren¡¯t as mad and let the incident*go. Communication is the key factor* here. If Sophie¡¯s parents had not been willing to listen, Sophie would have been in a lot of trouble.
Communication isn¡¯t a one-way deal: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation like Sophie¡¯s, telling the other person how you feel--listening is the key factor to communication.
¡¾1¡¿In the writer¡¯s opinion, dealing with parents is ________ than with children.
A. easier B. more careless C. more difficult D. more interesting
¡¾2¡¿The main idea of the second paragraph is ________.
A. the importance of friendship B. the importance of communication
C. to make your feeling known to others D. the disagreement between parents and children
¡¾3¡¿Sophie¡¯s example here is used to show that ____________.
A. Sophie is very polite to her parents
B. It¡¯s OK to come back home late at night.
C. Sophie¡¯s parents are very kind and listen to her
D. communication is the way to solve misunderstanding
¡¾4¡¿All the following are TRUE except ¡°________¡±.
A. Communication is a two-way deal.
B. If you are not able to communicate, walk away.
C. It is better to say ¡°Hi¡± to others than saying nothing.
D. If you don¡¯t agree with others, you¡¯d better let them know.
¡¾5¡¿In addition to (³ýÁË) listening, what else do you think is important in dealing with parents? Why?

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿It is important to have positive (»ý¼«µÄ) feelings in our daily life.
Compared some unhappy people, those who are always pleased and relaxed are less likely to suffer from colds, a new study. The researchers from New York University said, ¡° helps the body prevent diseases.¡±
¡°It seems that positive feelings may reduce the of illness,¡± said the chief researcher Sheldon Cohen.
In an earlier study, Cohen found that people who were caught colds less often. And they seldom told their doctors that they felt .
In this study, Cohen¡¯s team interviewed 193 adults every day for two weeks. In this , the people told researchers about happy or sad feelings that day. Two weeks later, all of them were made to catch colds by doctors, and they had to stay in a room for six days.
The results that each in the study was equal (ƽµÈµÄ) to fall ill. people who were lively and relaxed said they felt happy during the research. Their illnesses were less serious and lasted for a time.
Cohen believes that people have positive feelings, their body may produce a kind of chemical that helps to illnesses. So if you your health, please look on the bright side and make yourself happy all the time
