16.Chinese students may be the world's most hard-working at home.A recent report says that 15-year-olds in Shanghai spend the longest time on homework, compared with their peers around the world.
The report was released by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).It surveyed 510,000 students in 65 countries and regions. Results show that the global average is about 4.9 hours'worth of homework each week.Students in Shanghai spend the longest time-13.8 hours. Those in Russia and Singapore take 9.7 and 9.4 hours respectively (各自).Students in Finland spend the least time-fewer than 3 hours.
The study shows that students who did more homework scored higher in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA),an academic test for 15-year-olds.For example,Shanghai and Singapore, where students spent much of their time on homework, came in first and second respectively in the PISA math test in 2012.
What's more, teens from wealthier backgrounds were doing 1.6 more hours of homework than their poorer peers. It may"have widened the performance gap between students from different socio-economic backgrounds",the report warns.Poorer students may not have a quiet place to study at home,"it suggests."Their parents may not be able to guide, motivate and support their children on homework because of work responsibilities."
However, the number of hours spent on homework may influence students on an individual level, but it doesn't affect the country level.Factors like have a bigger impact on a country's overall performance.

Chinese students may be the world's most hard-working at home.A recent report says that 15-year-olds in Shanghai spend the longest time on homework, compared with their peers around the world"中国学生也许是世界范围内在家学习最用功的,其中上海15岁的学生做作业的时间最长. A Report On Time for Homework《学生家庭作业用时报告》.故填Homework.
72.Time and countries/regions. It surveyed 510,000 students in 65 countries and regions"报告了65个国家和地区的51万学生.Time and countries/regions. Time and countries/regions.
73.more. The study shows that students who did more homework scored higher in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA),an academic test for 15-year-olds"所说,学生做作业越多,参加PISA考试的成绩就越高. For example,Shanghai and Singapore, where students spent much of their time on homework, came in first and second respectively in the PISA math test in 2012,即上海和新加坡学生把大部分时间用在做作业上,所以,在2012年PISA数学测试中成绩分别为第一和第二.故填more.
74.backgrounds. 根据第四段"teens from wealthier backgrounds were doing 1.6 more hours of homework than their poorer peers. It may"have widened the performance gap between students from different socio-economic backgrounds",the report warns"所说,富裕家庭的学生比同龄的贫困家庭学生多花1.5小时做作业. Time and family backgrounds学习时间与家庭背景.故填backgrounds.
75.influenced/affected. However,the number of hours spent on homework may influence students on an individual level, but it doesn't affect the country level"所说,花在做作业上的时间也许会影响个人成绩,但并不影响全国成绩. Students'individual level may be influenced/affected… 故填influenced/affected.

1.What will the house of the future look like?Could it have gardens on its walls,or a pool with fish for dinner?Architects(建筑师) believe that they are all possibilities.The only thing for sure isthat the house will be as green as possible.
The tree house
Many architects in the world would like to build a"tree house."Like a leaf,the surface of the house collects sunlight  during the day.The energy can be used to heat water,produce electricity,and even create fresh air for the home.The"root"of the house is deep under the ground.It uses the soil to control the home's temperature.
The Lizard(蜥蜴) house
Like a lizard,changing color with the weather is the most important design of a lizard house.When it's in the bright  sun,the cover of the house will turn white to protect it from strong heat.During dark days,it turns dark and takes in as much light and heat as possible to produce energy.
Meals at home
This design is perhaps as much about the future of food production as architecture(建筑风格).It has gardens on the outside wall of the house.People can plant tomatoes,carrots and green tea on them.So every day in the morning,you just need to walk outside and collect your meals.
Leaning from the past
Looking to the future isn'tthe only way to be green.Sometimes,ancient techniques(古老的技术) can also help cut down energy use.For example,a chimney can be a useful air conditioner because it is easier for hot air to flow out(排出) the chimney.

On the day of the contest,some people came to the highway in fine clothing; some had fancy hairstyles or brought great food.Some young men came in their tracksuits and rang along the highway.People traveled the highway all day.But each one,when he or she completed the trip,complained  to the king that there was a large pile of rocks in the way that had blocked his or her travels..
At the end of the day,a lone traveler crossed the finishing line and walked over to the king.He was tired and dirty,but he showed the king great respect and handed him a bag of gold.He explained,"I stopped along the way to clear a pile of rocks that was blocking the road.This bag of gold was under it all.I want you to return it to its rightful owner."
The king replied:"You are the rightful owner.You've earned this gold,for you won my contest."
The man won the contest just because he was the only one who stopped to make the road smoother(平稳的).Sometimes,the greatest prize comes not from helping yourself,but from helping others.
