Are you looking forward to going abroad? These years, thousands of Chinese middle school students go to study in foreign (country) such as the US, the UK and Australia.
“Chinese children hope to go abroad (get) a wider view (视野) of the world,” said Li Mingshan, a Chinese writer who has (live) in America for many years. In a talk Li told more than 300 parents and their children that life abroad can be surely (hard) for young people than that in China. “They have to meet a culture shock and language problems.”
, these are not the most difficult things. To most children, looking after
while they are studying alone in a foreign country is a big challenge (挑战).
Zhao Baohua, 18-year-old student began to study in a high school in Australia last October. To his surprise, he was hardly given homework! “So we have more free time and more space for thinking.”said Zhao. “But you don't know how to plan your time and money, you will not have an easy time.”
“Learning abroad at a young age (help) students learn foreign languages quickly, but students and parents should know about the challenges. Make sure that you are ready for it.” Li said at last.

【题目】阅读下面四篇短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
C
Ricardo Semler became the boss of his father's company in Brazil at the age of 21. The name of the company is Semco. It sold parts for ships. Semler worked like a mad man, from 7:30 in the morning to midnight every day. One afternoon, while he was visiting a factory in New York, he fell down. The doctor said, “ There's nothing wrong with you. But if you continue like this, you'll find a new home in our hospital.” Semler got the message. He changed the way he worked. In fact, he changed the ways his workers worked, too.
At the same time, Semler changed the office. Instead of walls, they have plants at Semco, so the boss can't shut himself away from everyone else. And the workers are free to decorate their workplace as they want. As for uniforms, some people wear suits and others wear T-shirts.
Semco has flexible working hours: the workers can decide when they need to arrive at work. Also, Semco lets its workers use the company's machines for their own projects, and makes them take holidays for at least thirty days a year.
It sounds perfect, but does it work? The answer is in the numbers: in the last six years, Semco's revenues (收益) have gone from $35 million to $212 million. The company has grown from 800 workers to 3,000. Why?
Semler says it's because of “peer pressure” (同辈压力). Peer pressure makes workers work hard. It means if someone isn't doing his job well, the other workers will not allow the situation to continue. In other words, Semler treat his workers like adults rather than children, and expects them to act like responsible (负责任的) adults. And they do.
(1)Why did Semler change the ways he and his workers worked?
A.Because he became mad.
B.Because he had to stay in hospital.
C.Because his father asked him to do.
D.Because he realized the danger of overwork.
(2)What does the underlined word “ flexible” probably mean in Chinese?
A.灵活的
B.短暂的
C.漫长的
D.固定的
(3)What does the underlined word “they” in the last paragraph refer to?
A.Adults.
B.Semler's workers.

A.the company made a lot of money
