be allowed to do sth“被允许做某事”,此处表示被动关系,故此处用过去分词,故为allowed。
根据only white people were 31 to sit in the first four rows of public buses.

give up “放弃”,故为up。
根据after a long day working in a store 可知她工作了一整天,因此她感到累了,故为tired。
For that, she was arrested (逮捕). She was tried for just 30 minutes and fined (罚款) $10—a lot of money in those days.
Rosa Parks is celebrated for her action and bravery.

If you spend some time in an English-speaking country you might hear the term “etiquette”. It means normal and polite social behavior. This may seem like a difficult word at first, but it can be very useful to understand.
Etiquette is not the same in every culture or in every situation. For example, standing very close to the person you are talking with is quite common in some Asian countries. However, if you do this in Europe, some people might feel uncomfortable. Even in China,we all know that etiquette is not the same in all situations. Perhaps we think that talking loudly in our own homes is fine, but there are other places where talking loudly is not allowed. For example, most people would agree that talking loudly in a library, a museum or a movie theater is impolite. Even if you are with your friends, it is better to keep your voice down in public places.
If we see someone breaking the rules of etiquette, we may politely give them some suggestions. One of the most polite ways is to ask someone,“Would you mind doing this” or “Would you mind not doing that”. People don't usually like to be criticized, so we have to be careful how we do this.
Although rules of etiquette can often be different, some rules are the same almost everywhere in the world! For example, dropping litter is almost never allowed. If you see someone you know doing this, you can ask him,“Would you mind picking it up?”
(1)What does the word “etiquette” mean?(根据短文内容回答问题)

(2)Find out the key sentence of Paragraph 2.(找出第二段的中心句)

(3)If your friend talks loudly in the library, what would you say to him/her?(根据你对短文 的理解,写出一个委婉的建议)

The wind tried pushing Colin to the ground. It felt as if Colin's news-bag was full of potatoes.

“No good news again!” Dad said.
Car accidents! House burns! Storm damage(损害)!
Colin moved quickly from house to house leaving papers in the mailbox. He wished he could bring only good news to his family, also to his friendly neighbours. “How could I make things better for everyone?” he wondered.
Colin noticed Alice coming. She only had one real eye. The other was made of glass. He liked Alice even if many others laughed at her. He didn't realize how much it helped her, having a friend like Colin.
Each time Colin left a paper by a customer's door, he thought, “How could I make some good news?”
Colin gave his usual cheerful “Hi” to everyone on his way. His smile was like the rising sun.

He continued on his way, but he didn't feel tired. It was fun doing what he usually did—helping others.
He raced up the street to his last customer. Mrs. Williams saw Colin coming and had peanut butter cookies as a treat for her favourite paperboy. She wondered why such a lively boy always had time to chat with an old lady.

Yu Minhong, president of New Oriental Education, shared his ideas with the young after the English speech competition of the 14th China Daily. Here is some of his advice to young people:
“One suggestion I'd like to give you is that it's important to do what you like without fear of failure. And the process(过程)of working toward your dreams matters more than the results. Young people should take chances to show off talents. Take competitions like this one as an example: If you are afraid to fail, you'll never get the chance to stand on the stage and make a speech. Above all, it's most important to take part.
Another suggestion I want to give you is to read books. It is not easy to keep reading every day. For me, it is much more difficult and challenging to keep reading and taking notes every day than it is to walk 10,000 steps.”
In his speech, Yu also shared his view on life. He chose a different life rather than a more successful one. He uses the famous lines of American poet Robert Frost (1874–1963) to make his point:“Two roads diverged (分叉) in a wood, and I … took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”Yu pointed out, “Your happiness should not be what others think you should run after, but instead you should decide what it is. It is you who should make choices for your own life.”

Most of us use alarm clocks to wake up at the right time for school or work. We look at our watches to know the right time for the bus or train. However, there is also a right time to eat, sleep, exercise, and take medicine. We can’t look at a clock for the right time for these activities. We must listen to the clock inside our bodies: the biological (生物的) clock.

Barbara Wells exercised every morning. She woke up at 6:00 a.m. She ran about two miles before she went to work. But Barbara’s legs and back started to hurt. She did some exercise before she ran. But her legs and back still hurt. She ran slower, but the pain didn’t stop. Barbara talked to her doctor. The doctor said, “Don’t run in the morning. Try to exercise later in the day. That is the time when your body is at the right temperature for exercise after work.” Her legs and back didn’t hurt anymore.

Today, doctors are learning more about chronobiology (生物钟学), the study of biological clocks. They are learning about the importance of time for our bodies. For example, it is best for people to go to sleep on time every night and to eat only when they’re hungry. Also, doctors discovered that some illnesses, such as heart attacks, occur (发生) most often in the morning. This information tells them that the best time to take heart medication (药物) may be at night. When patients take heart medication at night, they may prevent a heart attack in the morning.

Many doctors believe chronobiology (生物钟) can help us live healthier lives. It may be the right time to listen to these doctors!

1We all have _________ clocks inside our bodies.

2Barbara Wells ran _________ every morning before she went to work.

3Barbara Wells’ legs and back got well by _________.

4What is the right time for the person who has a heart attack to take heart medication?

5Many doctors believe _________.
