Passage 4 (2015 镇江,C)

It is believed in some ways that the daughter is the fathers lover. But my experience has taught me in a different way. For a long time,my father has been a very vague figure (模糊白勺形象) to me.He was a man of few words, tall but slim and nothing else.

When I was in primary school,my father was never there to pick me up,and he never came to any of my parent-teacher meetings. He was always busy doing projects. I remember when I was in middle school and my head was badly hurt in a PE class. During my opera?tion,my father was nowhere to be found. This hurt me most. At that moment,I considered my father as a cold-blooded man who did not care about me at all.

But things seemed different at my high school graduation cere?mony, where I was chosen to represent my class and give a speech. My father, once again, told me he had a business trip in a place out- side the city and would be unable to show up (露面) .“ Don’t come.I will be very nervous if I see youI told him.

At my graduation ceremony,I could feel my father's deep love. The fact is that seeing is not believing, and seeing may not be the fact if we don't perceive (感知) the world with our hearts and minds. There's no doubt that life doesn’t lack (缺少) love, but sometimes our eyes have trouble seeing it.

Passage 8(2014江苏盐城亭湖区,C)

I love my Blackberry mobile phone—it's my little connection to the larger world that can go anywhere with me.I also love my comput?er's it holds all of my writing and thoughts. However,I know there are times when I need to move away from these things and tmly com?municate with others.

I teach a course called History Matters in college. My goals for the class include a deep discussion of historical subjects and ideas, because I want students to fully study the materials and discuss with each other in the classroom. I have a rule—no computers,iPads, phones, etc. When students were told my rule, some of them were not happy.

Most students think my reasons for this rule include negative ex?periences in the past when students made wrong use of technology. There's a bit of truth to that.I've seldom had students make wrong use of technology in my classes; however,I have been e-mailed by students while they were in other teachers, classrooms.

Some students think that I am anti-technology. There's no truth in that at all.As I noted above,I love technology and try to keep up with it.

The real reason why I ask students to leave technology at the door is that I think there are very few places in which we can have deep conversations. Interruptions (中断) by technology often break students thoughts and make them depend too much on outside infor?mation for ideas.I want students to dig deep in themselves for ideas.I want them to push each other to think differently and to make con?nections between the course material and the class discussion.

I have been teaching my history class in this way for many years and the evaluations (评价) show student satisfaction with the envi?ronment that I create.Students realize deep conversation and difficult tasks and they learn at a deeper level—a level that helps them keep the course material beyond the classroom.

I am not saying that I won^ ever change my mind about technol?ogy use in my history class, but until I hear a really good reason for the change,I will continue my plan. A few hours of technology-free dialogue is just too sweet to give up.

1. The writer's rule for his History Matters class is  .

  A. discussing historical ideas deeply

  B. studying and discussing the materials

  C. leaving technology out of the classroom

  D. making right use of technology in class

2. The word “negative” in Paragraph 3 means    .

   A. similar   B. unforgettable   C. special   D. unpleasant

3. What can we infer from the passage?

  A. Students make right use of technology in other teachers’ classes.

  B. The classroom is one of the good places to have deep conversa?tions.

  C. The writer encourages students to agree with others after discus?sion.

  D. Students are unhappy with the writer's way of teaching history.

4. The writer wants to tell us that    .

  A. technology has different influences in different classes in college

  B. technology makes it difficult to have true communication in class

  C. history classes can help students to develop their deep thinking

Passage 9(2014江苏南京六合区一模,五,A)

根据下面短文内容,在空格里填人最恰当的单词。每空一词。

Lefs face it: homework can be almost as frustrating ( 沮丧) for parents as it is for kids. Getting kids to do their homework can be a challenge, and when they do sit down to study,a lot of other problems can appear.

Doing homework may not be as fun as playing video games or chatting with friends, but it shouldn’t be something that kids hate. Your children's assignments (任务) should help them build a skill or learn something new.

You can help by being a homework monitor, stepping in to answer questions or offer encouragement. This gives you a chance to see whal they are learning and how well they understand the material.lt helps you understand their learning style and shows you care about their education.

Many kids refuse to study by asking why they have to learn things they'll never use in real life. If your son or daughter shows little interest in their assignments, you can make them seem more important by pointing out ways you use them in daily life.

If parents feel that their kids are overoaded (使负担过重) , they can talk about it with the teachers. If you think it takes your child too long time to finish homework, try to make a decision whether the problem lies in having too much work or managing time poorly.

If your child complains of boredom while doing homework, give him or her the following suggestions :

Get help from friends:if your children are bored with an assignment, let them call a friend for help or invite a friend over to work on it with them.

Add physical activities : set mini-goals for homework an (] allow time for relaxing, jumping around,or a snack after each goal is completed. For a kid who can^ sit still, find active ways to study.

Turn the tables: let your children leach you a lesson. Let them give you a test on the things they have just learned.

Passage 5 (2015 浙江杭州,C)

Are you shy? If you are,you are not alone. In fact, close to 50 percent of people are shy. Almost 80 percent of people feel shy at some point in their lives. These days, shyness is becoming more and more common. Now,scientists are tiying to understand shyness. They have some interesting ideas about why people are shy.

Is it possible to be born shy? Many scientists say yes. They say 15 to 20  percent of babies behave shyly. These babies are a little qui?eter and more watchful than other babies.Interestingly, these shy ba?bies usually have shy parents. As a result, scientists think that some shyness is genetic.

Family size might cause people to be shy as well. Scientists at Harvard University studied shy children. They found that 66 percent of them had older brothers and sisters. The scientists said that these children were often bullied (欺侮) by their older brothers and sislers. As a result, they became shy. At the same time, children with no brothers and sisters may be shy as well.Growing up alone, they often play by themselves. They are not able to learn the same social skills as children from big families.

You may also be shy because of where you were bom. When scientists studied shyness in different countries, they found surprising differences.InJapan, most people said they were shy.But inIsrael, only one of three people said so. What explains the difference? One scientist says the Japanese and Israelis have different opinions of fail?ure. InJapan, when people do not succeed, they feel bad about them?selves. They blame ( 责备) themselves for their failure. InIsrael, the opposite is true.Israelis often blame failure on outside reasons, such as family, teachers, friends,or bad luck.InIsrael, freedom of opinion and risk-taking are strongly supported. This may be why Israelis worry less about failure and are less shy.

For shy people,it can be difficult to make friends, speak in class, and even get a good job. But scientists say you can get over your shyness. They suggest trying new things and practicing conversa?tion. And don't forget—if you are shy,you are not the only one.
