The winter of 2007-2008 was one of the coldest on record in China, with many areas in Central and South East China receiving snow from 10 January to 6 February. Many places suffered the worst snowstorms in more than fifty years.

However, the worst part of the storms was number of people it hurt. It is thought that more than 100 people died in the storms (F) from the cold or from their houses falling on them.
