Qi Baishi was a famous Chinese painter. He  was born in the countryside in Hunan Province in 1863. From an early age, he  showed great intelligence and artistic ability. As he grew older, he learned to  do many different things.He was good at painting  vegeta- bles, flowers, birds and insects. From 1902  to 1909, he travelled across China and painted many pictures of scenery. The  painting  Cabbage is one of his most famous works of  art. He died in Beijing in 1957 at the age of 94.
