【题目】 Millions of Chinese have been playing a mobile game called “ Travel Frog ” recently. You play as the “ mother ” of a frog who lives alone and enjoys traveling. 1 The frog will send you postcards while he is away.

The game’s popularity may have something to do with how lonely people are these days, according to the Xinhua News Agency. Many players have said that the lonely frog is just like them. 2

Loneliness seems to be a common problem today. 3 And in the UK, about one in five people in the country are “ always or often lonely ”, the Telegraph reported. This might be why the UK government announced the country’s first “ Minister(部长)of Loneliness ” in January. 4 The minister’s office will provide more money for activities that connect people together.

This loneliness problem may be partly because of social media. When we see pictures of friends having fun or posting selfies with us, we may compare their “ perfect ” lives with our own and feel even lonelier.

But we should remember that no one is sure to be lonely. As UK poet John Donne once wrote, “ 5 And every man is a piece of continent(陆地), a part of the main. ”

根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺、内容完整。

A.The minister’s job is to find ways to help UK citizens feel less lonely.

B.You need to prepare food and tools for his trips.

C.No man is an island, entire on itself.

D.According to the Guardian, about 40 percent of American adults say they’re lonely.

E.But playing with the frog helps them forget their loneliness for a short time.

【题目】 Don't tell anyone: is likely a phrase you have heard before of after someone tells you a secret. But why is it so hard not to spill the beans? One Baylor College of Medicine expert explains why this is a challenge.

“Secrets often include something that someone does not take pride in. They've chosen someone to tell the secret, but don't want other people to know about it because they feel like if it gets out it could damage (破坏) their fame,” said Dr. Asim, Shah, professor in the Meninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor. “However, it can be hard for the person to keep that to themselves because it may become a burden(负担).”

As soon as you tell somebody not to repeat your secret, people want to share it with somebody, Shah explained. Also most people have a confidant (知已), so when you share information with yours, keep in mind that they likely will share it with their own confidants.

With secrets so often getting out, why do people share them in the first place? One reason is that people often feel like it will help them keep close friendship with others, Shah said. However, connecting telling someone your secrets with how close you are to them is not always advisable. It is important for people to understand that they can have close relationships without sharing their secrets unnecessarily.

Another reason why people often tell a secret is that they feel guilty for keeping it, Shah said. For example, if your friend tells you a secret but you do not share it with your close friends, you may feel guilty for not telling them. If you do not share certain things with your close family members, a sense of distrust can develop. Keeping or sharing secrets often puts people in a position of either gaining or losing the trust of someone.

He added that people who are more talkative may by accident let a secret out but that does not necessarily mean it is a good idea to share secrets with someone who is quieter. If somebody is quiet and keeps everything in, it may cause them to have more stress, and finally they will talk to somebody.

If you do not want to be responsible(负责的) for keeping someone's secret, it is best to be honest and tell the the person you do not want to know his or her secret.

“If you end up accidentally sharing a secret with somebody else, it is best to be honest and let the person know that you shared his or her secret," Shah said.

【题目】阅读短文,根据短文内容,从短文后的五个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。每个选项只能用一次。

William Blake described the eyes as the "windows of the soul".1 Either way, there's no question that we place great value on our eyes and our eyesight. Surveys have shown that of the five senses, sight is the one that people fear losing the most.

Thinking about the important function of our eyes, we'd give them the best care possible, but sometimes we get too busy or forget to do a few simple things that can keep our eyes healthy.

2 Remember when you were a kid and your mom told you that carrots would improve your eyesight. Well, she might be right. Proper food will keep your eyes strong and healthy.

Give up your daily habits that could seriously injure your eyes. Always wear sunglasses in a sunny day to protect your eyes from ultraviolet ray(紫外线). 3 At least every 2 hours, get up and take a 15-minute break when working at a computer.

4 You should try to prevent eye injuries whether you're playing sports or doing housework. You should also know when to wear safety glasses and what kinds will work best for you.

Last but not least, get your eyes examined regularly. 5 It's important to find these diseases early on, when they're easier to treat.

A. Eye exams can help find some eye diseases.

B. Protecting your eyes starts with the food on your plate.

C. Make sure your eyes do not get injured in the first place.

D. Our eyes are the windows through which we see the world around us.

E. Rest your eyes every 20 minutes from the computer screen by looking 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
