If you love reading books, you must know about the book The Little Prince《小王子》. It’s a famous novel written by a French writer. As one of the best-selling books in history, it has been sold as many as 200 million copies in 253 languages and dialects(方言). Now, around seventy years after the birth of the book, an American director has found a way to make it into a 3D animated film.
The book tells the story of a pilot(飞行员), called The Aviator, who crashes(撞击)into the desert and meets a young prince there. However, in the film, the story starts years after the crash when The Aviator is much older. He has got a new neighbor called The Little Girl, whose mother wants her to get ready to enter the grown-up world. Slowly, the Aviator shares his story with The Little Girl by writing it down and sending her a page at a time. The pages are finished with the pictures in the book, speaking about his time in the desert and taking The Little Girl to a surprising world where anything is possible.
China is the first country in the world to see the film in two languages--in Chinese and English. The film shows The Little Girl’s life and tells The Little Prince’s story at the same time in a beautiful way.
Huang Lei, who voices the film together with his 9-year-old daughter, says the film is like a childhood dream which is lost by most grown-ups in this stressed-out society.

Primary and junior high school students will get new versions (版本) of textbooks this autumn term.
The biggest changes will happen in Chinese textbooks. The textbooks teach more traditional Chinese culture. For example, ideas on the hundred schools of thought (诸子百家) will be introduced to students. There will also be more classical Chinese poems and essays (文章). The percentage of traditional culture in the new textbooks will be up to 30 percent for primary school students and 40 percent for junior high school students. Meanwhile, about 15 percent of the texts will be taken out to make students have less work.
The Language and Culture Press will publish the new Chinese textbooks. It makes one of the main versions of the textbooks in China today. First, the new books will be given to more than 4 million students in the first and seventh grades across the country starting this autumn, and then they will be given to other grades.
Also, politics (政治) textbooks will get new names. Primary school politics textbooks were called “morality and life (品德与生活)”, and those for junior high schools were called “ideology and morality (思想品德)”. This year, the names of all politics textbooks for the first and seventh grades will change to “morality and law (道德与法治)”.
It’s the first time the word “law” will be in the names of textbooks since 1949. “We need to let children know that laws protect them as well as how they do that,” said Li Xiaodong, sociology (社会学) professor at Beijing Normal University.

Eric and Chen first met in their Maths class at an American college. Chen was an International student from China. He wanted to learn about American culture and hoped he and Eric would become good friends. At first, Eric seemed friendly. He always greeted Chen warmly before class. Sometimes he offered to study with Chen. He even invited Chen to eat lunch with him. But after the term was over and they were in different classes, Eric seemed more distant. They didn’t see each other very much at college. One day Chen called Eric, but Eric didn’t seem very interested in talking to him. Chen was hurt by Eric’s change of attitude(态度).“Eric said we were friends.” Chen said. “I thought friends were friends forever”. As a foreigner, he doesn’t understand the way Americans treat friendship.
Americans use the word “friend” in a very general way. Their friendship is based on common interests. When the shared activity ends, the friendship may die. Now as Eric and Chen are no longer classmates, their “friendship” has changed.
In some cultures friendship means a strong life-long tie between two people—friendship develops slowly, since it is built to last. But American society changes quickly. Twenty percent of American families move every year. American friendship develops quickly, and it may change just as quickly.
Learning how Americans treat friendship can help non-Americans remove misunderstandings(误解). It can help them make friends in the American way.
