Competition Rules

Relatives of judges（评委）and organizers are not allowed to take part in the competition.

All singers must be between 13 and 19 years of age

Singers aged 17 or younger need the permission of a parent to take part (See Parent Permission below)

All singers must arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the competition. Late comers will not be allowed to take part.

Prizes:

1st Prize-$1000 (one prize only)

2nd Prize-$250 (3 prizes)

3rd Prize-$100 (5 prizes)

Winners will be decided according to the following:

March 20th is World Water Day every year. According to a report from the United Nations, more than half of the world's major rivers have serious water loss and are polluted.The Yellow River, the world's fifth longest river, watered some of the oldest farms on earth. Kumar and his team asked some students to write a thank-you note to another person by email. Then, they asked both the writer and the receiver how sending or getting these notes made them feel. Here is the result.

They found that these writers didn’t like to write the notes because they felt like they had to think too much about them. They worried about what to say and how to say it. The receivers, however felt enjoyable when they got the notes. When you are a receiver, you really care about the warmth of the note, “Kumar says. “How friendly and warm was it?”

Also, the writers didn’t like to write the notes because they thought it might be awkward (尴尬的) for the receiver to get a thank-you note. But in fact, it’s not true. “They feel quite happy,” Kumar says. “They don’t really feel awkward at all.” If people knew that writing a thank-you note could be so important to others, they would do it more often, Kumar says.

In a word, simple and small changes in our everyday lives can make a big difference in how we treat (对待) other people and how we feel.
