　　Rockets(火箭)can fly far out into space．Rockets with men inside them have already reached the moon in the USA and Russia．Several rockets without men inside them have been sent to other worlds much farther away．On Nov．7, 2007, China’s first lunar probe, Chang’e I, successfully has completed its 1,580,000 km flying journey to the moon．

　　I am sure that you are asking ‘How does a rocket fly?’ If you want to know, get a balloon and then blow it up, until it is quite big．Do not tie up the neck of the balloon, let it go．The balloon will fly off through the air very quickly．The air inside the balloon tries to get out．It rushes out through the neck of the balloon and this pushes the balloon through the air．

　　This is how a rocket works．Of course, the rocket is made of metal．The metal must not be heavy but it must be very strong．There is gas inside the rocket, which is made very hot．When it rushes out of the end of the rocket, the rocket is pushed up into the air．The jet velocity(喷射速度)is always faster than the flying speed．

　　We’re sure that one day rockets with man may be able to go anywhere in space．

Strict, cold and focused only on his job．Well, yes, this is the popular image(形象)of Korean fathers．However, this image does not tell the whole story．Across the country, more and more fathers are looking for the answer to the question：what does it mean to be a good father today? 　　Founded in 1995, Father School began in Seoul(首尔)．It aims to help Korean men show love to their families．Most of the students are from 30 to 70 years old．They are asked to write letters to their kids as homework and to practice saying “I love you” to all family members．

　　Like many students in Father School, Edmond Rhim never wanted to come．“I’m not a bad father,” he said．“But it was just difficult for me to communicate with my two teenage kids．” He began to show up in class, and things got better．When he graduated from the school among 70 other men, he no longer felt awkward(尴尬的)when hugging his wife and kids．

　　You can’t see any object unless light from that object gets into your eyes．Some of the things you see give off light of their own。The sun, the stars, a lighted lamp are the examples that can be seen by their own light．But most of the things you see are not giving off light of their own．They are just reflecting(反射)light that falls on them from the sun or some other luminous bodies．The moon, for example, doesn’t give off any light of its own．You see it because sunlight falls on it and some of the sunlight reflects on the earth．So moonlight is only second－hand sunlight．

　　When you look at a book, it sends some of the light which fails on it to your eyes, and you see the book．If light could be kept out from where you’re so that there would be no light from the book to reflect．Then you couldn’t see the book even with your eyes wide open．Light travels so fast that the time in which it travels from the book you’re reading to your eyes is as short as if there were no time at time．Light reaches us from the moon, which is about 380, 000 kilometres away, in only a little more than a second．

　　I read a book called Neela：Victory Song and it was so good．I read it twice! It took place in India in 1936 and this 12-year-old girl named Neela tried to save her father! It has lots of history in it! I also learned a lot about different cultures! The author’s name is Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni．

　　Steven Jobs, the designer(设计者)of Apple Computer, was not clever when he was in school．At that time, he was not a good student and he always made troubles with his schoolmates．When he went into college, he didn’t change a lot．Then he dropped out(退学)．But he was full of new ideas．

　　After he left college, Steven Jobs worked as a video game designer．He worked there for only several months and then he went to India．He hoped that the trip would give him some new ideas and give him a change in life．

　　Steven Jobs lived on a farm in California for a year after he returned from India．

　　In 1975, he began to make a new type of computer．He designed the Apple Computer with his friend in his garage(汽车库)．He chose the name“Apple”just because it could help him to remember a happy summer he once spent in an apple tree garden．

　　His Apple Computer was such a great success that Steven Jobs soon became famous all over the world．

Surtsey was born in 1963．Scientists saw the birth of this island．It began at 7．30 a．m．on 14th November．A fishing boat was near Iceland．The boat moved under the captain's(船长)feet．He noticed a strange smell．He saw some black smoke．A volcano(火山)was breaking out．Red-hot rocks．fire and smoke were rushing up from the bottom of the sea．The island grew quickly．It was 10 meters high the next day and 60 meters high on 18th November，Scientists flew there to watch．It was exciting．Smoke and fire were still rushing up．Pieces of red-hot rock were flying into the air and falling into the sea．The sea was boiling and there was a strange light in the sky．Surtsey grew and grew．Then it stopped in June 1967．It was 175 meters high and 2 kilometers long．And life was already coming to Surtsey．Plants grew．Birds came．Some scientists built a house．They want to learn about this young island．A new island is like a new world．

　　Mr Perkin stood at the bus stop and watched the cars go by．Many of the cars were new Beta 400s, and most of them were yellow．Mr Perkin always wore the same clothes as other men, ate the same food as other people, and did the same things after work, and at the end of the week, Mr Perkin didn't like to be different．

　　The following week, Mr Perkin bought a new, bright yellow Beta 400s．He was satisfied with it, and drove to work in it the very next day．He was even more satisfied with his new car, when he saw all the other Beta 400s, in front, behind and on both sides of him．

　　Mr Perkin parked his car in a car-park near his office, and walked the rest of the way．But when he came back at five o'clock, there were so many bright yellow Beta 400s in the car-park that he didn't know which car was his．He tried his key in some of the cars, but people passing by gave him a look he didn't like．So he stopped．

　　Poor Mr Perkin had to wait nearly two hours until his was the only yellow Beta 400s in the car-park．
