　　The Spring Festival, the most important Chinese holiday when everyone returns home, has caused headaches for millions of Chinese．More than 2 billion people travel at the same time, making getting travel tickets and the journey difficult．But in 28 years, Spring Festival travel may not be a problem at all．China plans to build more than 120,000 kilometers of railway and a fast transportation network that will serve 90％ of the population by 2020．And because most of China will be cities, people will not have to go to other places to find a job, so it will no longer be a problem．

　　Newspaper will come to an end in 2043．In the future, digital(数字的)newspapers will be sent to personal web tools through Internet．Readers can discuss topics with journalists and editors．Information will move faster．

　　Oil is running out faster than expected．But scientists have found something else for oil as fuel(燃料)．Coal, natural gas, solar power, nuclear power and even water can take the place of oil as sources of energy(能源)．

　　Schools will go electronic(电子化)．Computers will be important and popular among the students．Everything will be in the computer and students will not need to bring books to school．They will find information on the Internet．A computer will be the students' library, schoolbag and connection to the outside world．There will be robot teachers, they will check homework on computers and communicate with the students' parents through e-mail．And school buses will be like spaceships, comfortable and safe．

　　Prana was a beautiful dog, whose name means“breath of life”．Although he died several years ago, I can still remember the days we spent together and what he has taught me about love．

　　I have two apple trees in the garden．Prana loved apples．When he went outside, he'd catch an apple and take it into the house to eat later．The apples had been on the ground and were often dirty so I wasn't always happy that Prana had brought them into the house．

　　It was an autumn day in America, but it was very cold．A big snow fell and we had not done anything for its coming．On that special day, Prana went outside and I watched him through the window．I noticed that he was madly digging(挖)holes and bringing the apples to the ground so they could be seen above the snow．I did not know why he was doing this．He seemed to want to do something special．

　　When I called him back, he had his usual one apple in his mouth．About five minutes later, I looked outside．The garden was completely covered with birds．Prana had dug up all those apples for his bird friends to eat．He knew that they wouldn't have stored enough food for the coming winter!

　　Our bodies make skin cells all the time．As the old cells fall off, new cells grow in the same place．Each person makes about 18 kg of skin cells during his or her life．Surface skin cells fit together closely with no gaps between them．When you cut or burn yourself, you can harm your skin cells．A small cut will not do much harm．Your skin will quickly heal itself by making new skin cells．How do skin cells．How do skin cells work?First, the cells near the cut get bigger and move into the gap; Next, these bigger cells meet in the middle．They form a new layer(层)of skin cells．Finally, new cells will grow until the gap disappears completely．In this way, your skin can grow well itself．

　　A reader wrote in to say that she was feeling lonely at break because her best friend wasn't around．Here's our advice to her－and to all kids who feel lonely sometimes．

　　It's hard when a best friend isn't around－maybe because she moved to a different school or a different class．You may feel lonely at break or lunchtime．You want to have new friends．but how do you make them?Maybe it seems like everybody else already has their friends．But remember, there's always room for more friends．

　　Start by looking around your classroom－think about which kids you'd like to play with at break．Look for chances to say hi to them, smile, and be friendly．Offer to share something or express your appreciation(欣赏)to them．Invite someone to play with you or say“Do you want to sit here?”in the lunchroom．When you're at break, walk over to kids you want to play with act friendly, and say“Hi, can l play, too?”or just join in．

　　If you have trouble doing this or if you're feeling shy, ask your teacher to help you make new friends．Teachers are usually pretty good at matching up friends．The best way to make friends is to be a friend．Be kind, be friendly, share, say nice things, offer to help－and pretty soon, you'll have one, or two, or even more new friends．

　　You might still miss that special best friend．But when you see each other, you can share something you didn't have before she left：You can introduce her to your new friends!

　　It's not easy to be an astronaut's son．Everybody expects you to be special or perfect．I often wonder how my father ever had a son like me．I mean he's so special and so good at everything he does．Even in middle school he was class president and captain of the football team．

　　When I got home, I started to think about what to write．My father is an astronaut．N0, I wouldn't start like that．That was the way others saw him．How did I see my father?Hmm．

　　I saw him sitting with me in the dark when I had a terrible dream．I remembered how he hugged me for hours when my dog Spotty was killed by a car．Yes, these were the things I was going to write．To me, he wasn't just a world－famous astronaut．He was my dad．

　　My parents and l went to school Thursday night．There were so many people in the big hall!My dad looked at me, and I shrugged(耸肩)．

　　The third prize was announced and it was not me．I was relieved(释然)and disappointed at the same time．The second prize was announced．It was me．

　　I went up to the stage and read what I had written,“My father's son”．When I finished, the people stood up and cheered．I saw my father blowing his nose．Tears were running down my mother's face．Dad cleared his throat and put his hand on my shoulder．“Son, this is the proudest moment of my life．”

　　It was the proudest moment of my life, too．Maybe I'll never be a great hero or win a Nobel Prize, but it was enough just to be my father's son．

　　Dreams are expressions of thoughts, feelings and events that pass through our mind while we are sleeping．Everybody dreams．But only some people remember their dreams．Our dreams often include all the senses－smells, sounds, sights, tastes and things we touch．We dream in colour．Sometimes we dream the same dream over and over again．These repeated dreams are often unpleasant．They may even be nightmares－bad dreams that frighten us．

　　Early in the twentieth century, two famous scientists developed their personal ideas about dreams．Austrian psychiatrist Sigmund Freud published a book called“The Interpretation(诠释)of Dreams”in 1900．Freud believed people often dream about things they want but can't have．These dreams often have something to do with sex and aggression(侵犯)．Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung worked closely with Freud for several years, but he believed dreams could help people grow and understand themselves．He believed dreams provide solutions(解答)to problems we face when we are awake．He didn't believe dreams hide our feelings about sex or aggression．Today we know more about the science of dreaming because researchers can take pictures of people's brains while they are sleeping．

　　Other researchers are studying how dreaming helps our bodies work with problems and very sad emotions(感情)．Robert Stickgold is a professor of psychiatry at Harvard University in Massachusetts．Doctor Stickgold says that when we dream, the brain is trying to make sense of the world．He does not agree with Sigmund Freud that dreaming is the way we express our hidden feelings and desires(愿望)．

　　Scientists believe it is important to keep researching dreams．Doctor Stickgold says it has been more than one hundred years since Sigmund Freud published his important book about dreaming．Yet there is still no agreement on exactly how the brain works when we are dreaming or why we dream．
