　　How are you? I am fine in London at the International School．I am in Class Two with other(其余的)11 students．They are from Canada, Japan and Australia．Our teacher’s name is David．He is a good teacher and he helps me a lot．I like him very much．

　　I live with an English family, Mr．Bill and Mrs．Bill．Mr．Bill is an Englishman．But Mrs．Bill is from Argentina．They have 3 kids．They are Mike, 15, Hebe, 12 and Becky, 9．They are all friendly to me．I like to make friends with them．

　　London is an old and beautiful city．There are many nice parks．Hyde Park, Green Park and St．James Park are all in the city center．

　　Hello Sandy,

　　We have just returned from our holiday．We went with our friends Edward Smith and his wife Tina to the Yorkshire Moors．This is a beautiful place．It is a natural park．There are lots of places to walk on the tops of the hills, miles of grassland with no people, just sheep and birds．

　　Edward, who had just come out of hospital, could not walk as far as he used to．However, this meant that we walked in the mornings, and then stopped at a cafe for lunch each day, before returning to the place we live．Edward and I slept in front of the fire all afternoon, while the ladies went for another walk．Very pleasant!

　　I have taken lots of photos from the place we live, across the valley(峡谷)below us, of the morning sunrise, and the mist(雾气)in the valley．Also, in England, the old steam powered trains(蒸汽火车)are very popular．I have taken many photos of the train and from it．

　　Yesterday we had the first snow of this winter．It is very early(we usually expect snow in January)．It rained all day, then snowed in the evening．Today we have bright sunshine!

　　Both Jenny and I are well．I don’t know if I told you, in the last e-mail, that Jenny is now working in a hotel．Although she has to work hard, people there are nice and she is enjoying the work．

American Idol is a singing competition on TV in America．There is one competition every year．People usually watch the show on Tuesday and Wednesday nights．American Idol is also televised on Fox and CTV in Canada．Its first season was on June 11^th, 2002．Until now, it has altogether 7 seasons．This program is to find the best singer in the country by a series of competition．Audience determines(决定)the result of every competition on the stages through public voting(投票)by telephone．There are also three judges(裁判)beside the stages．They watch the performances of the contestants．Then they give some suggestions to the contestants．All the contestants must be American citizens．They must have full-time jobs．In the first three seasons, they had to be 16 to 24 years old．Since the fourth season, the upper age limit has been 28 years old．So it attracts different ages of audience．Some TV stations like Hunan TV also have this kind of program．And we can see Super Girl’s Voice and Super Boys’ Voice on TV．

　　Today was not a good day．Everything went wrong．First, I sleep late and Mom shout at me to wake up．When I went to the kitchen for breakfast, there was no cereal(粥)．I decided to have some toast(烤面包)instead, but I burned it．I had to eat it anyway because there was no more bread．There was no juice, either．I just had a glass of water．

　　When I was almost at the bus stop, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet, so I had to go back home and get it．Of course, I missed the bus and had to wait for the next bus．

　　I was late for school and the teacher told me to stay in the classroom at lunchtime to catch up on(弥补)the schoolwork I had missed．

　　After lunch, it was the time to give the teacher our homework．I reached into my bag to get it but it wasn’t there．I had left it at home．I was in trouble again．

　　When I got home, I went straight to my room to catch up on my homework．Mom cooked fish for dinner．She knows I don’t like fish, but she thinks it is good for her son．It was a horrible day．I hope tomorrow will be better．

　　Radio, telephone and television are widely used in the world．When you witch on the radio, you can listen．But when you use a telephone, not only can you listen to others but also you can chat with them; however, you cannot see anything at all．Television is much better than both of them．People can watch TV and listen to it, but they cannot take part in what they see．

　　Today, some people are using a new type of telephone called visionphone．With it two people who are talking can see each other．

　　Visionphones can be of great use when you have something to show the person whom you are calling．It may also have other uses in the future．Some day you may be able to call up a library and ask to read a book right over your visionphone．You may be able to do the shopping through it, too．Perhaps in the near future, visionphone will come into wider use in our everyday life．
