What is a library for? Most libraries have books and other things to read. Many of them  have things
to listen to. Some libraries even have computers. Very few people would think of a library as a place to
live in.
     One library in New York City turned into (变成) a home for 250 people for a few days. These were
all people near the library. They slept on the floor. Why did the people move into the library?
     The people moved into the library because the city wanted to close it to save money. These 250 New Yorkers loved their library. They didn't want to lose it. So they moved in.      The time has come:I'm graduating, and I thank you both for all your help during these
15 years. I still remember when you used to say, "You can be whatever you want" I'm so
glad you are my parents, especially when I hear kids say they don't get on well with theirs.
I'm glad that you support(支持) me when I decide to do anything. You always try to help,
and that's important to me .
     Dad, I remember when you first took me fishing. I loved going even though I never caught
anything. I also remember when you would get angry with me. I realize you were only trying
to show me the right way. When Iwould cry, you would always be there to try to cheer me
up. That's what I call a good, loving, caring dad. Sometimes you and Mom don't agree with

     The bus station, a street corner in the city, the caf ? at the mall… American teenagers like to hang out
at these places.
     I want to tell you this is true. American teenagers have far too much time to waste (浪费). Because
they have short school days and their parents are busy at work day and night, US teenagers find happiness
in doing nothing.
     "What do you do all day in that park?" A mother will ask her son or daughter, with some reason. "I
don't know, just hang out," her child might answer.
     Of course, some kids keep busy with after-school sports, test-prep (测验准备) classes and clubs. I

     Today Newtown is a clean place, but many years ago there were millions of rats there. The rats even attacked (攻击) the cats and dogs. Sometimes many of them tried to bite men or women at night. The rats
