阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

Being physically active three times a week reduces the odds of being depressed by about 16%, according to new UCL research carried out as part of the Public Health Research Center.

The study, published in JAMA Psychiatry, found a two-way relationship between depression and physical activity. People who increased their weekly activity reported fewer depressive symptoms but those with more depressive symptoms were less active, particularly at younger ages.

Researchers followed 11,135 people born in 1958 up until the age of 50, recording depressive symptoms and levels of physical activity at regular intervals in adulthood. They found that each additional activity period per week reduced odds of depression by 6%. In England 19% of men and 26% of women are currently classed as “inactive”, and this study suggests that activity could significantly improve their mental as well as physical health.

“Assuming the association is causal, physical activity has a protective effect against depression. If an adult between their twenties and forties who isn’t physically active became active 3 times per week, they would reduce their risks of depression by about 16%.” says Dr. Snehal of the UCL Institute of Child Health, lead author of the study.

Professor Mark, Director of the Public Health Research Center, said, “Many people are already aware of the benefits of physical activity on their general health, but now we are seeing more evidence that suggest it also has a positive effect on a person’s mental well-being. The latest research highlights just how important it is to ensure that people are working and living in environments that allow them to be both physically active and mentally healthy.”

【题目】阅读理解

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

Although I started learning English during my college years, when I entered the States, I only understood two English words “Yes” and “No”. We learned many grammar rules but we could not make the language connections to the real English world. Language frustration worries almost all first-generation immigrants. For example, I got a letter from a Chinese-American who has lived in the States for a long time and has a good IT job saying “My 11-year-old girl writes quite well, but as her parents, we could not even read her article.” In addition, my Chinese-American professor friend has difficulty reading a novel. Improving our English skills has become a long journey for all of us. Honestly, if I have a chance, I really want to reach out to everyone in the world who has had a similar experience: learning a second language in adulthood. I wish I could encourage them to speak out about the culture shock, frustration they felt about the differences between West and East.

I have mainly focused on my English writing since 2008 after I found “Literacy Volunteers”, an organization that specially focuses on helping immigrants improve their English. I decided to challenge myself, writing a story like an American. I saw many wonderful Americans there. As soon as I met my teacher Alice, I asked her to be my private language tutor and have taken Tim’s English class. Every week Alice and I have worked on my English essays sentence by sentence.

To observe the culture differences between West and East, occasionally, I posted a few of my English essays online. I mentioned previously about American culture; when people read the same article or even face the same situation, American and Chinese act very differently. In my viewpoint, these differences make America the strongest country in the world. I know you have the right to express your own opinions, but accusing others without proof is not acceptable.

【1】What does the underlined word “frustration” in the first paragraph mean?

A. Failure and Setbacks B. Words and Problems

C. Understanding and Progress D. Slang and Idioms

【2】In the passage, “Literacy Volunteers” is .

A. of great use to people like the author

B. a school showing how to enjoy literature

C. only intended to help the Chinese-Americans

D. an organization which is set up to make a profit

【3】What can we learn from the last paragraph?

A. Americans and Chinese are of the same idea about something.

B. Culture shock only exists between Chinese and Americans.

C. Accusing others freely can be acceptable in America.

D. Culture differences have great influence on the people.

【4】What’s the purpose of the passage ?

A. To show how hard a Chinese-American life in America.

B. To share her experience of improving her English.

C. To imply grammar rules are not important.

D. To warn Chinese-Americans of English.

【题目】阅读理解

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项 (A 、B 、C D )中,选出最佳选项。

Consider yourself warned. Sunday is April Fools' Day, a day when you are encouraged to play tricks on loved ones and even the people you meet at the bus stop. It's a strange tradition, but how did it get started?

Nobody is completely sure about the origin of this, the silliest of holidays. However, the urban legend experts at Snopes. com say that most experts owe it to Pope Gregory XⅢ, who, in the 1500s, gave the world the Gregorian calendar.

In 1562, the Gregorian calendar moved the first day of the year from April l to January l. Word did eventually get around, but some people were a bit slow to hear the news. These folks continued celebrating the new year on April l, unaware that they were now three months behind the times. These "April fools" were tricked by those who knew it. The tradition eventually made its way to the US.

And it's still going strong. Over the past week, Web searches on " April Fools' Day jokes" and " April Fools' Day tricks" have more than doubled, and related lookups for "easy April Fools' Day tricks" and "April Fools' Day jokes for work" have also increased greatly. Bottom line: Keep your guard up, especially if somebody offers you a word search puzzle. Lookups for "impossible April Fools' Day word searches" are up by 200%.

But really, there is no way to be certain you'll escape trickery because even companies are out to trick you on Apri l. In 1957, the BBC reported Swiss farmers were harvesting spaghetti(意大利面) from trees. And in 1996, Taco Bell took out ads in major newspapers announcing that the company had purchased the Liberty Bell and renamed it the Taco Liberty Bell.

【1】What is the author's purpose of writing the text?

A. To teach us how to avoid being tricked.

C. To introduce the history of April Fools' Day.

B. April Fools' Day was set by Pope Gregory XⅢ.

【题目】阅读理解

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项 (A 、B 、C D )中,选出最佳选项。

Have you ever run into a careless cell phone user on the street? Perhaps they were busy talking, texting or checking updates on WeChat without looking at what was going on around them. As the number of this new “species” of human has kept rising, they have been given a new name —phubbers(低头族).

Recently, a cartoon created by students from China Central Academy of Fine Arts put this group of people under the spotlight. In the short film, phubbers with various social identities bury themselves in their phones. A doctor plays with his cell phone while letting his patient die, a pretty woman takes selfie in front of a car accident site, and a father loses his child without knowing about it while using his mobile phone. A chain of similar events eventually leads to the destruction of the world.

Although the ending sounds overstated, the damage phubbing can bring is real.

Your health is the first to bear the effect and result of it. “Constantly bending your head to check your cell phone could damage your neck,” Guangming Daily quoted doctors as saying, “the neck is like a rope that breaks after long-term stretching.” Also, staring at cell phones for long periods of time will damage your eyesight gradually, according to the report.

But that’s not all. Being a phubber could also damage your social skills and drive you away from your friends and family. At reunions with family or friends, many people tend to stick to their cell phones while others are chatting happily with each other and this creates a strange atmosphere, Beijing Evening News reported.

It can also cost you your life. There have been lots of reports on phubbers who fell to their death, suffered accidents, and were robbed of their cell phones in broad daylight.

1】For what purpose does the author give the example of a cartoon in Para. 2?

A. To advertise the cartoon made by students.

B. To inform people of the bad effects of phubbing.

C. To indicate the world will finally be destroyed by phubbers.

D. To warn doctors against using cell phones while treating patients.

【2Which of the following is NOT a risk a phubber may have?

A. His social skills could be affected.

B. His neck and eyesight will be gradually harmed.

C. He might get separated from his friends and family.

D. He will cause the destruction of the world.

【3Which of the following may be the author’s attitude towards phubbing?

A. Supportive. B. Optimistic.

C. Opposed. D. Objective.

【4What may the passage talk about next?

A. Measures to reduce the risks of phubbing.

B. People addicted to phubbing.

C. Definition of phubbing

D. Consequences of phubbing.
