【题目】阅读下面材料,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
When I was a child I thought a lot about what it means to love. I once asked my mother if she loved me or my father 1 (many), certain that I knew the answer — me. Instead, she bent down and looked at me 2 the eye, hands gently on each shoulder. She explained that she couldn’t help 3 (love) me and that the love of a mother for her baby was incredibly strong. But then she told me that the love she had for my daddy was a love of __4__ (choose), which made it special. Of all the people in the world, she chose 5 and he chose her. Now that I’m married, I consider each day 6 it takes to stay married as long as my parents have. It’s not that I don’t believe in romance. 7 I believe more in the sacred of the ordinary. I believe in love that is sustained by deliberate __8__ (kind) and the choice to see little acts as testaments of love and commitment rather than indicators of a spark that has died of love communicated each time he cooks meals and I schedule his dental appointment. This picture of love is certainly less 9 (excite), but decidedly real, and more romantic in its own way because of the weight of its 10 (real).

About five years ago I started at a new school when my family moved to Iowa. I was just a little excited, but I worried I would never fit in with (适应) the other sixth graders.
Lucy, a girl in my class, who I thought was not ready for change, didn’t like me from the start. In fact, I was sure she hated me. I could tell she thought I was a fool.
My teacher made us sit by each other for the last term. Lucy was surprised that I didn’t wear makeup (化妆). I didn’t exactly look like the coolest girl. But, I kept smiling at her and I kept telling her she looked beautiful, even when she was angry.
Finally, Lucy let me talk to her, even in sight of her "cool" friends. She started telling me how beautiful I looked. I still remember that first time when she smiled at me saying that, and I smiled right back, telling her thanks. Lucy invited me over to her house for a party, and talked to me all the time instead of her other friends.
I may move to Arizona after that, but I will never forget Lucy. She was a great friend. I still smiled at Lucy when she made fun of me. I didn’t think she was right in doing those things, but I still put up with (忍受) it. And we became great friends.

For the last 115 years, the Swedish Academy has decided who will receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, thus determining who will be promoted from the great and the near great to the immortal(不朽人物).
But today the Academy is coming under heavy criticism both from within and without. Critics argue that the selection of the winners often has less to do with true writing ability than with the peculiar politics inside the Academy and Sweden itself. According to Ingmar Bjorksten, the cultural editor for one of the country’s two major newspapers, the prize continues to represent "what people call a very Swedish exercise: reflecting Swedish tastes".
The Academy has defended itself against such charges of provincialism(排外主义) in its selection. It says that its physical distance from the great literary capitals of the world actually serves to protect the Academy from outside influences. This may well be true, but critics respond that this very distance may also be responsible for the Academy’s inability to have an accurate idea of the trends in the literary world.
Regardless of concerns over the selection process, however, it seems that the prize will continue to survive both as an indicator of the literature that we most highly praise, and as a difficult goal that writers seek. If for no other reason, the prize will continue to be desirable for the financial rewards that accompany it. Not only is the cash prize itself considerable, but the prize dramatically increases sales of an author’s books.
【1】What is Paragraph 2mainly about?
A. The responsibility of the Swedish Academy.
B. The history of the Swedish Academy.
C. Why the Swedish Academy is criticized.
D. How the Academy chooses prize winners.
【2】What does the Academy think of its location?
A. It helps the Academy make fair choices.
B. It puts the Academy at a disadvantage.
C. It helps the Swedish develop their taste in literature.
D. It makes the Academy unaware of literary trends.
【3】10. What does the author say about the Nobel Prize in Literature in the end?
A. It will remain important.
B. Its selection process may change.
C. No financial award can compare with it.
D. It will be more difficult to win it.
【4】What is the author’s attitude towards the Swedish Academy?
A. Supportive. B. Critical. C. Doubtful. D. Objective.

【题目】B
Everyone needs friends. We all like to feel close to someone. It is nice to have a friend to talk, laugh and do things with. Surely, there are times when we need to be alone. We don’t always want people around. But we would feel lonely if we never had a friend.
No two people are the same. Sometimes friends don’t get along well, which doesn’t mean that they no longer like each other. Most of the time they will go on being friends. Sometimes friends move away, then we feel very sad. We miss them much, but we can call them and write to them. Maybe we would never see them again, and we can make new friends. It is surprising to find out how much we like new people when we get to know them. Families sometimes name their children after a close friend. Many places are named after men and women, if they are friendly to people in a town. Some libraries are named this way. So are some schools. We think of these people when we go to these places.
There’s more good news for people who have friends. They live longer than those people who don’t. Why? It could be that they are happier. Being happy helps you stay well. Or it could be just knowing that someone cares. If someone cares about you, you take better care of yourself.

A. none needs friends
B. we need to be alone
C. we always need friends around us
D. making friends is the need in people’s life
