Dear friends,

In recent years, many of us spend a lot of time on the Internet with its popularity. As a result, we don¡¯t write as well as we did in the past. In order to protect our Chinese characters and improve our handwriting, we¡¯d like to offer some suggestions:

We should spend less time online so that we can have more time to read books. We¡¯d better form the habit of keeping diaries every day to practice handwriting. Besides, it is better to write letters to our relatives and friends by hand rather than send e-mails.

As the saying goes, ¡°The style is the man.¡± Beautiful and neat handwriting is beneficial to us students. So please pay more attention to our handwriting in the future.

Let¡¯s take action now!

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿The Fitting-in of Suzy Khan

The first time I saw Suzy Khan, I knew I had to help her. She was really small for her age of 12. The boy in my class often about her and laughed their heads off. She would open a book, pretending to read, with tears dropping on the open page.

All I knew was that she was an orphan (¹Â¶ù) from Africa. She had just been adopted by a family in town who that the best way for her to learn American ways of life was to be with american kids. I looked down at this girl and promised myself that somehow I would help her.

But how could I help her in with us? There had to be a .

One day, when I went into the classroom, I saw that Suzy had her geography book to a picture of a train, and in her notebook, she had made a(n) (7) copy.

I was surprised and thought that she could do something in the coming (8) show. So, I took her to see the art teacher, Miss Parker, and showed her what Suzy had . ¡°why, it¡¯s wonderful,¡± said Miss Parker, who then showed us a poster she had painted the talent show. ¡°I need more of these, but I just don¡¯t have enough . Could you help me, Suzy?¡±

On the day of the talent show, Suzy¡¯s were everywhere ---- all over the hall and all over the school, each one different.

¡°And finally,¡± said Mr Brown, the schoolmaster, at the end of the show, ¡°we have a (n) award. I¡¯m sure you¡¯ve all noticed the wonderful posters.¡± Everyone nodded. ¡°One of our own students them.¡±

I could hear everyone whispering. ¡°Who in our school could draw well?¡±

Mr. Brown waited a while before saying, ¡° this student worked so hard on the posters, she deserves a ,too. Our mystery(ÉñÃØ) artist is our new student ---- Suzy Khan!¡±

Mr. Brown thanked her for all the wonderful posters and gave her a professional artist¡¯s set. ¡°Thank you,¡± she cried.

I , at that time when I was looking at her excited face, she¡¯d probably never anything in her whole life.

Everyone started to their hands. Suzy Khan gave them a shy smile and the applause was defening. I knew then Suzy was going to be all right.

Dear friends,

The recent success of children¡¯s books has made the general public aware that there¡¯s a huge market out there.

And there¡¯s a growing need for new writers trained to create the $3 billion worth of children¡¯s books bought each year¡ plus stories and articles needed by over 650 publishers of magazines for children and teenagers. Who are these needed writers? They¡¯re ordinary people like you and me.

But am I good enough?

I was once where you might be now. My thoughts of writing had been pushed down by self-doubt, and I didn¡¯t know where to turn for help.

Then, I accepted a free offer from the Institute to test my writing ability, and it turned out to be the inspiration I needed.

The promise that paid off

The Institute made the same promise to me that they will make to you, if you show basic writing ability: you will complete at least one manuscript (ÊÖ¸å) suitable to hand in to a publisher by the time you finish our course.

I really didn¡¯t expect any publication(³ö°æ) before I finished the course, but that happened. I sold three stories. And I soon discovered that was not unusual at the Institute. Since graduation, I have written 34 nationally published children¡¯s books and over 300 stories and articles.

Free test and brochure

We offer a free ability test and will send you a copy of our brochure describing our recognized home-study courses on the basis of one-on-one training.

Realize your writing dream today. There¡¯s nothing sadder than a dream delayed until it disappears forever.

Sincerely,

Kristi Hill

Institute of Children¡¯s Literature
