What would Barbie look like if she were average?

According to US artist Nickolay Lamm, she would be a brunette with a rounded face and a much thicker waist£®

Frustrated with the unrealistic beauty standards of Barbie and her friends, Lamm took data from Disease Control and Prevention about an average 19-year-old American woman, who is about 163 cm tall, with a 84-cm waist£® With those measurements, Lamm created a doll£®

The doll-s tagline £¨¿ÚºÅ£©is ¡°Average is beautiful£®¡±

¡°I think a realistic-size doll is important because when I look at current dolls on the market, they all look like supermodels," the artist told APF£® ¡°I just had the impression that the wall of supermodels suggests that something is wrong with you if you don-t look like one£® So I created an alternative to suggest that it¡¯s OK to look like a normal person£®"

The Lammily dolls, which are 27 cm tall, have been on sale since last month£®

Lammily also has other features£® Unlike Barbie and her friends, whose pointed legs would force her to walk on all fours if she were real, Lammily has articulated£¨Êà½ÓµÄ£© joints ¨C able to walk, run, and play£® The doll can even be put in a yoga position£®

What¡¯s more, the Lammily dolls include a sticker package that can help to add real-life marks to the dolls, including freckles, acne, moles, and tattoos£®

¡°You can also add minor cuts and bruises, like ones you'd get from falling down while snowboarding," Lamm told NBC£®

¡°I feel that, right now£® dolls are very perfect looking, when, in real life, few of us have perfect skin," Lamm told The Huffington Post£® ¡°Things like pimples are a natural part of who we are£® So, why not give dolls a real treatment?"

As The Huffington£® Post said, "Getting kids used to the idea that these things are completely normal and not 6flaws'£¨È±ÏÝ£© to be ashamed of can only be a good thing£®"

1.Why did Nickolay Lamm make the Lammily doll? £¨No more than 14 words£© £¨2 marks£©

2.How is the Lammily doll different from Barbie dolls? £¨No more than 13 words£© £¨3 marks£©

3.What does Lamm mean when he says, "why not give dolls a real treatment?" in the second-to-last paragraph? £¨No more than 1 words£© £¨3 marks£©

I still remember it was in the winter of 1990 that, together with the help of my older sister, I down my wishes for Christmas onto a piece of paper. How I wished on Christmas Eve my grandest wish would be and placed under the Christmas tree ¡ª a puppy. When we were done, our wish-lists were collected by our parents with the promise to be to Santa's hard- working helpers.

The next day, our parents sat us down in the living-room, with expressions on their faces. As it , they had seen our wishes, now wanting to talk to us about one wish ¡ª the puppy. For a moment, I held my breath, but was when they told us that they weren't against a puppy. What they against was putting it under the Christmas tree. That was not a good idea.

They taught us that an animal was not a gift that belonged to the same as our toys. Animals were creatures with that we should decide to have one, and it would be a(n) to our family. An animal a lot of responsibilities. It wasn¡¯t anything one bought out of a mood. An animal could not be exchanged or when we didn't feel like it. An animal wasn¡¯t a toy. An animal was a family member that needed lots of love and attention. An animal was not a , but a family decision. A serious decision. And a big decision.

, my parents share my love for animals, so the decision came reasonably . After our grandparents had given their up for taking care of the dog, while we were on future vacations, the answer was yes. Yes, we would get a puppy.

The following days and weeks, there was only one : our new family member! Yes, a family member, because animals have their rights. They are not simply food or gifts. We humans must attend, love and protect them.

When Jane put out the idea of homeschooling to her parents, the first reaction they gave was, ¡°You are cutting the child off the world.¡¯¡¯ ¡°Did the child really get cut off or did the child socialize better?¡±

The moment we hear of homeschooling, we think the child will have no opportunities to interact with peers. However, in my friend¡¯s opinion, we forget that when attending a regular school, the child is not into socializing all the while. The child is restricted to so many other activities. Studies take a major role in a child¡¯s life. The child hardly has the time to interact at school.

The child might be meeting and studying along with many peers; however, how many kids interact with all the kids in a class? But in homeschooling system, as my friend mentioned, the kid has all the time and can plan his day accordingly. During the day the child studies just like other school-going kids but with no burden of homework and project work, the child has so much free time in the evening as to effectively interact and play with peers. The quality time the child spends in education is really impressive.

Homeschooled kids have the opportunity to socialize more often as they have a lot of time in their hands. They can also make socializing a regular habit. Just as my friend said, her child goes to a neighboring park almost every day and has a set of friends who go there daily. Other children get back home to finish off homework and project work whereas her child who is already through with studies gets the opportunity to spend time with family members.

When I heard this, I really felt how lucky the child was. Definitely the child had a better opportunity to socialize when compared with my kid. However, I might not consider homeschooling for my kid, as I am so used to the conventional schooling system and feel regular schooling the safest bet.

An old friend from California called from the airport to tell me that he had arrived. I was not able to leave the office, but I had made plans for his arrival. After explaining where my new house was, I told him that I had left the key under the doormat (Ãŵæ). Since I knew it would be pretty late before I could get home, I suggested that he make himself at home and help himself to anything that was in the refrigerator.

Two hours later my friend phoned me from the house. At the moment, he said, he was listening to some of my records after having had a delicious meal. Now, he said, he was drinking a glass of orange juice. When I asked him if he had had any difficulty finding the house, he answered that the only problem was that he had not been able to find the key under the doormat, but luckily, the living room window by the apple tree had been left open and he had climbed in through the window. I listened to all this in great surprise. There is no apple tree outside my window, but there is one by the living room window of my next door neighbor's house!
