Alexis, 17, sat quietly in the passenger seat of her dad's car. She let her eyes lazily scan the landscape for wildlife. Then a deer came into view about 200 yards in front of them. ¡°Dad, there's a deer there!¡± Alexis said. It was a male deer with sharp antlers (½Ç) on each side of its head.
As the car moved closer, Alexis saw that the deer's head was bent toward the ground. Then she heard a scream and saw an arm fly up near the deer's head. Alexis realized the deer was attacking a woman. Sue, a 44-year-old mother, had been out for her morning run. The deer followed her and edged closer. ¡°I knew I was in trouble.¡± Sue says. She went to pick up a stick for self-defense, and the deer charged. It lifted her with its antlers and threw her into the air. Sue could feel blood flew down her leg. Within seconds, the deer had pushed her off the road.
When Alexis and her father pulled up, the deer was throwing Sue like a doll. Alexis looked into the woman's terrified eyes, and before her father had even stopped the car, the teenager jumped quickly out of the car and ran toward the deer. ¡°I was kicking it to get its attention." she says. Then her father, who had followed his daughter, pushed the deer away from the women.
Alexis helped Sue into the car and then applied a piece of cloth to Sue's injured leg. ¡°We're going to get you to a hospital.¡± Alexis said. Then she heard her father shout loudly. He had been knocked to the ground. Alexis took hold of a hammer from the car and ran to where her father lay on his back. She beat the deer's head and neck, but the blows didn't scare it away. ¡°I was losing faith.¡± she says. ¡°A couple more strikes. Alexis.¡± said her father. ¡°You can do it.¡±
Turning the hammer around, Alexis closed her eyes and beat the deer's neck with all her strength. When she opened her eyes, the deer was running away.
Alexis got in the driver's seat and sped toward the nearest hospital. After Sue was treated, she tearfully thanked her rescuers. ¡°You expect a teenage girl to get on the phone and call for help,¡± she says, ¡°not to beat up a deer.¡±

Working in a team can be rewarding, but at times it can be difficult. To create a successful team, effective communication methods are necessary. Here we've outlined some ways to avoid some common team mistakes as well as some helpful advice.
Communicate
Letting bad feelings brew£¨ÔÍÄð£©will only make you feel bad and want to isolate yourself from the group. Not only does it feel good to get the bad feelings out, but it will be better for the team in the long run.

People in your group will lose respect for you if you're constantly blaming others for not meeting deadlines. Group members understand if you have a heavy workload and aren't able to meet a deadline. Saying something like, ¡°I'm really sorry, but I'll get it to you by the end of today.¡± will earn you a lot more respect than trying to make it seem like it's everyone else's fault that you missed your deadline.
Support group member's ideas
If a teammate suggests something, always consider it! And this makes you a good team member. After all, nobody likes a know-it-all.
Listen Actively
Look at the person who's speaking to you, nod, ask questions and acknowledge what's said by paraphrasing points that have been made. If you're unclear about something that's been said, ask for more information to clear up any confusion before moving on. Effective communication is a vital part of any team. .
Get Involved
Share suggestions, ideas, solutions and proposals with your team members. Take the time to help your fellow teammates. You can guarantee there will be a time in the future when you'll need some help or advice. .
A. Don't Blame Others
B. Avoid showing off
C. Thus, the value of good listening skills shouldn't be ignored.
D. Have faith that people will recognize when good work is being done.
E. If you have a problem with someone in your group, talk to him about it
F. And if you've helped them in the past, they'll be more than happy to lend a helping hand.
G. Considering the group's ideas shows you're interested in other people's ideas, not just your own.

Scientists investigated why Ebola virus is so deadly when it spreads from animals to humans and then from human-to-human contact. The research team looked at the Zaire Ebola virus in an animal system to understand how it gains strength. This virus is responsible for the current outbreak in West Africa. They found that initially the animal systems were not affected by the virus, but succeeding transmission(´«ËÍ) into other animals caused the virus to ¡°hot up¡± and become more severe.
The team analyzed the viruses at different stages and were able to identify several changes in its genetic material that were associated with increased disease.
Professor Julian Hiscox, who led the study from the University's Institute of Infection and Global Health, explains: ¡°The work tells us that the evolutionary goal of Ebola virus is to become more fatal.¡±
¡°We were able to show through genetic analysis which parts of the virus are involved in this process. The information we have gathered will now allow us to monitor for such changes in an outbreak as well as develop future treatment strategies.¡±
Professor Roger Hewson, leading the study from Public Health England, Porton Down, said: ¡°Ebola virus is such a destructive infection to the people affected by the disease and the economy of West Africa.¡±
¡°Our understanding of Ebola virus biology is way behind that of other viruses and our cooperation shows how we can bring together our specialists' skills to close this knowledge gap.¡±
Professor Miles Carroll, a co-author of the work, said: ¡°This study has allowed the team to be at the forefront of developing methodologies to analyze patient samples recently taken by the European Mobile Laboratory from West Africa to understand disease evolution during the current outbreak.¡±

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿How to Negotiate

when you're negotiating£¨ÐÉÌ£©with someone, listen for the messages that he or she might be sending to you.¡¾1¡¿ Imagine you're staying in a hotel, and you want to change your room-The manager s answer of¡°That would be very difficult, sir¡±,does not mean that he is 8aymg¡°no£®¡±It Just means that he wants to know what you are prepared to offer him in return for the change of room£®

If you are buying a new car, and want to pay less than the price being asked, then the sales. man s comment, ¡¾2¡¿means that they do negotiate on other things, like the delivery time, or the ¡°extra¡± that might be available as part of the purchase. In the same car showroom, if the salesman says,¡¾3¡¿then your response should be to ask who can. The message the salesman is sending suggests that his boss is the one you need to be talking to.

¡¾4¡¿In any negotiation, the two ¡°players¡± wish to get as much out of it as they can, of course. In the three examples above. the salesmen and the hotel manager are hoping that you will accept their price or conditions¡ª¡ªbut their ¡°messages¡± make it clear that there may be room for movement and compromise. ¡¾5¡¿.

A. Patience plays a vital role in listening, which leads to a successful negotiation.

B. ¡°Sorry, I myself can't negotiate prices",

C. "I'm sorry, but we never negotiate on the price",

D. "I'm sorry, but our price is quite reasonable",

E. In all of these situations, the message is never communicated in clear terms.

F. For example, the word "difficult" does not mean the same as impossible.

G. In a successful negotiation, the two sides move towards each other and reach an agreement on conditions that satisfy both sides.

Nowadays more and more Chinese go to work with bicycle, leaving their cars at home. Why are so many people riding bicycles to work? They have different reason for it.

First, bicycles do not use up any fuel. Therefore, they cost less than other means of transport. Besides, bicycles do not need many space on the road, and it is easily to find a place for it. And everybody knows that riding a bicycle is healthy sport. When people drive their cars to work or shop, they lost the chance to exercise, but the waste gas from the cars will pollute the air. And moreover, people feel annoying when looking for a parking lot in the busy city center. So I prefer riding a bicycle to drive a car.

We are looking forward to a cleaner and better environment by changing our life style.

To her disappointed, her parents don't agree with her decision at first Therefore,Li Hui would not change her mind. She worked hardly to perfect her skills.Just before he finished high school, the chance came:the famous art school was holding a cartoon drawing competition The first three winners would be given a scholarship to study drawing there. Li Hui told herself not to missing the chance. She readily entered the competition and came second. She is now a student in that school and I feel certain what her dream would come true.
