"Haven't you been taught that you should be nice to everybody?"Diaz asked him.
"Yeah,but I didn't think people actually behaved that way,"the teenager replied.Thanks to Diaz,he was beginning to see that kindness wasn't so strange,after all.
When the bill came,Diaz told the teen that he'd have to get the check.After all,he still had Diaz's wallet.
But the teenager put the wallet on the table without a moment's thought,and Diaz treated him to dinner.Diaz also gave the would-be robber a﹩20 bill-in exchange for his knife."I figure, you know,if you treat people right, you can only hope that they treat you right,"Diaz said.

10.When several people look at the same person,it is not unusual for each of them to see different things; when you are alone observing one behavior or a person at two different times,you may see different things.The followings are but some of the factors that lead to these varying perceptions(感知,认识):
(1)Each person's perceptions of others are formed by his or her own cultural conditioning,education,and personal experiences.
(2)Sometimes perceptions differ because of what we choose to observe and how we deal with what've observed.It is not necessarily true that person perception is based on observations of a particular person.Your observations may be totally controlled by what others have told you about this person; or you may focus primarily on the situation or role relationship.Most people do not use the same standard to measure their parents,their friends,and strangers.
(3)Sometimes we see only what we want to see or don't see what may be obvious to others because of our own needs,desires,or temporary emotional states.This is a process known as selective perception.Selective perception is obviously more difficult when contradictory information is particularly obvious,but it can be done.We can ignore the   stimulus--"He's basically a good boy so what I saw was not shoplifting(入店行窃)."We can reduce the importance of the contradictory information--"All kids get into mischief(顽皮).Taking a book from a bookstore isn't such a big deal."We can change the meaning of the contradictory information---"It wasn't shoplifting because he was going to pay for it later."…

26.The first factor given by the author that affects our perception isB.

C.children often differ from grown-ups in perception
D.one tends to choose certain aspects to look at
28.Observation of the same person by two people at the same time may differ becauseA.
  A.they follow different standards
B.either of them may be slow to catch information
C.the time for observation is not long enough
D.each of them uses different language to express his/her impressions
29.The underlined word"stimulus"in Paragraph 4refers toC.
 A.something attractive             B.selective perception
 C.contradictory information        D.shoplifting
30.The worst thing in selective perception is thatB.
A.the information received runs against your desire

4."BANG!"the door caused a reverberation (回声).It was just standing there, with father standing on one side, and I on the other side.
We were both in great anger."Never set foot in this house again!"stormed father. With tears welling up in my eyes,I rushed out of the flat and ran along the street.
The street lights were shining, causing a rather sad feeling.I wandered aimlessly.
A young father who held a child in his arms walked past me.I felt as if I saw my childhood from another space:happy and carefree.
But now …I don't know whether it is because I have grown up or because dad is getting old.We differ in our ways of thinking. He always put his opinions and codes (模式)of behavior on me.Whenever I do something wrong,he never admits it.We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is an iron door between us that can never be opened.
I wandered the streets, without a destination in mind.My heart was frozen on this hot summer night. As I walked on there were fewer and fewer people on the streets, until I had only the street lights to keep me company. When I finally reached the high-rise apartment block in which I lived,I saw that the light was still on.
I thought to myself:"Is father waiting for me,or is he still angry with me?"
In fact,it was nothing.Perhaps, dad was throwing away some of his old stamps.Perhaps he thought they were useless.I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps.I can't stand his outrageous(蛮横的)words:"I can't throw you away, let alone these old papers?"
All the lights were off except father's.
Dad was always like this.Maybe he didn't know how to express himself. After shouting at me,he never showed any mercy or any moments of regret. After an argument he has the habit of creeping up in my sleep and then tucking me underneath the covers.
This was how he always was.He has been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do has become his second nature.
The light was still on."Am I wrong?"I whispered, maybe…With the key in hand,I was as nervous as I had ever been.At last,I decided to open the door.As soon as I opened the door tears ran down my cheeks.I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us did not exist at all.Love-it is second to none.

The health of the famous picture, painted by Leonardo Da Vinci in 1505,is getting worse by the year, according to the Louvre Museum (卢浮宫博物馆) where it is housed."The thin, wooden panel on which the Mona Lisa is painted in oil has changed shape since experts checked it two years ago."the museum said.Visitors have noticed the changes but repairing the world's most famous painting is not easy.Experts are not sure about the materials the Italian artist used and their current (现在的)chemical state.
Nearly 6 million people go to see the Mona Lisa every year, many attracted by the mystery of her smile."It is very interesting that when you're not looking at her,she seems to be smiling, and then you look at her and she stops,"said Professor Margaret Livingstone of Harvard University."It's because direct vision is excellent at picking up detail, but less suited to looking at shadows.Da Vinci painted the smile in shadows."
However, the actual history of the Mona Lisa is just as mysterious as the smile.Da Vinci himself loved it so much that he always carried it with him, until it was finally sold to France's King Francis I in 1519.
In 1911,the painting was stolen from the Louvre by a former employee, who took it out of the museum hidden under his coat.He said he planned to return it to Italy. The painting was sent back to France two years later.
